Californians

@fingercuffs what's your electricity bill each month? Is it predictable? Mine varies widely by like $175, and I have no idea why. I was gone for like 2 weeks and unplugged all the major appliances last month, and my energy bill was almost identical for that month compared to the one before. No idea...

"Smart" meter. Lmao. When mine went in my bill doubled.

My roommates told me no blackouts so far, we're downtown in the Hensley neighborhood.

I've been at valley medical since Thursday. I was making lunch on Wed round 1130 and had a seizure, which happens to me every few months but the way I fell on my right leg I ended up both dislocating and breaking a bone in my ankle. Also broke my fibula in the lower right leg. Never dislocated or broke anything before. The x-rays are awful.

They had to relocate the ankle bone once on Thursday and 4 times yesterday because it kept slipping out of place. Super unstable. They had to do surgery to drill screws and bars to my leg to keep that foot in place till the swelling goes down. Then they will do another procedure.

I was awake for those resets and have never endured pain like that. Sucked like a mofo. They gave me 2 pops of morphine, a pop of fentanyl and I was still screaming and passed out during the the 1st relocation on Thursday. Yesterday they loaded me up with Dilated an oxy and it still didn't help at all.

Did that nightmare 5 times, words don't really tell what it was/is like. Hospital staff is really awesome and has kicked ass... Definitely kicked my ass that's for sure.

Here's a pic from yesterday in the middle of one of the resets. This Dr was pretty badass she didn't hold back at all. See how the two ends of my lower right leg are tied and being pulled in two different directions? They were doing live x-rays during this.
So yeah good times.

Damn. Get well sherbros. Ouch!

Gotcha. It's a really nice area around there.

This is a bit quirky but there was a trailer park a block away - LOL. AFAIK the trailer park was still there the last time I was in Palo alto a year ago. According to Google they are currently closed or not taking any new renters.

The prices in Palo Alto were absurd when I was a post doc, now those prices look like pennies on the dollar. Very little of the old 1950s character of El camino Real/CA-82 remains.

Damn smoke giving me a headache. At least I'll have an excuse for shitposting. ;)

I don't think I've even been to Palo Alto. No one would think I've been here for 3.5 years, apart from vacations I haven't really spent a great deal of time out of SJ and Campbell.

The fire clouds driving home from Sunnyvale last night were pretty shocking.

I’m glad we’re getting a “little cooler” temps. On Tuesday, I walked out to my car around 1pm for lunch, and nearly passed out! I got so messed up that I couldn’t even make it back in to the office. Just called up the boss and told him I needed to go.

Stay safe out there Cali folks!

cali went solar 10 years ago. why still depending on 100 cali companies using the same grid?

they gotta stop developing new housing and increasing the population
grid cant handle it, nor can the traffic

It seems like this shit is happening every year. I don't see this changing anytime soon.

Fires in California and it looks like two tropical storms headed into the Gulf of Mexico. Sit down, put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.

I'm in the central valley, havent heard of any blackouts around here.

Or there need to be some public works projects aimed at improving the existing infrastructure. In fact, the entire US could use that.

In Paradise the glorious leaders took Ca money to shrink roads with road diets after they were told to increase road size or people would die.

Let's take two lanes away! When the grand jury said to add two! After the last fire.

All because globalists hate cars. And freedom

Do you just attribute everything that happens, which you consider bad, to some nefarious liberal plot?

Right. The majority of what is going on here now is due to lightning, not politics.
