Cain Velasquez is Mexican/isn't Mexican Thread ***Threads Merged***

Depending on which country the military base was in, it's considered U.S. soil and Brian Stann would be recognized as an American.

"Generally, a US military base is not specifically considered to be sovereign US territory/possession (whereas, for example an Embassy or Warship are)"

Only fucking idiots would care. Truly. If you care about this strongly, you're probably not a very smart person. No harm though, not everyone can be.

He wasn't born in Mexico.

People who say shit like he's Mexican because "Mexican blood" runs through him are ignorant and racist. Nazis used to say the exact same thing.

Barcode of his chip doesn't start with 750

It was mentioned by Werdum recently and was the source of some controversy between the two fighters.

This is an MMA forum, where people discuss all things MMA-related, no matter how petty you think they might be.

So tell me Brainiac, what does his nationality have anything to do with MMA....do brown people learn they're MMA skills faster? white people, red people or black people? What does his nationality have to do with anything he does in the MMA World? Come on give me an example of how his race, color, religion, sexual preference, sperm count, have a damn thing to do with MMA? I'm waiting......

He is Mexican to me. With his strong Mexican roots, if he chooses to proudly represent his heritage, even though he was born in the U.S., then people should let it be. Werdum showed very little tact in his comments. You don't breach the subject of nationality. It is just in poor taste.

This whole thing is stupid. Who cares what country he was spit out in. Leave the man to represent his roots.

Amen.....closet racists are everywhere....

I don't think Cain could pass Spanish 101 but let the man identify however he wants

He's not hurting anyone he's just trying to tap a big fight market

If Cain had Mexican citizenship Ithink we would know what with how the UFC is trying to portray him as Mexican and people are saying he isn't. He's probably eligible for Mexican citizenship but I don't think he is a Mexican citizen.

I think, I don't think....

assumptions. That's all you have.

This is a topic that people care FAR too fucking much about. It's pretty ridiculous, really.

Too many posters are far too closed-minded and naive, here.

Second generation immigrants are all American. That's what America was and still is. And it doesn't matter what your community looks like. East L.A., Little Tokyo, Chinatown, that is all US of A.

Cain is American with proud Mexican roots. Normal. Go look in the mirror and wonder why you're proud of your roots.

It really isn't any more complicated than that.

But, no. This is the interwebs, and I don't understand something! So I'm gonna act butt-hurt over it.
