Bruce Buffer blasts Nate Diaz over under-promotion claims

Lmao Bruce knows the only reason he has a job is Dana loves him because he's always wanted to a be boxing promoter and hear Michael Buffer announcing his fighter's names and this is the closest he can get

Yes bow down to the people who paid you peanuts for your entire career and will wring you like an old towel and toss you out the minute they are done with you.

The UFC kicked Georges St. Pierre on his way out the door. This is the same Georges who was a career company man, consummate professional and rained down tens of tens of millions in profit for the company every year.

All you need to know about the relationship between the UFC and its fighters is the way they treated arguably the greatest champion and ambassador the sport has ever known.

Nate should fight to the bone for every dollar he can squeeze out of Zuffa. That is exactly what they do with everyone under contract, and its fair play.

And they didn't end up letting GSP skip the entire queue in a weight class above his to beat a cherry-picked opponent who was arguably the worst champ in UFC history? And then not even follow up on his subsequent contract obligations? They could have easily said "sorry buddy but you need to atleast win 1 or 2 fights at MW before we can let you fight forr the title".

His $7million wasn't a result of being promoted by the UFC

He made $7million because he stepped in on short notice and submitted Conor McGregor. It was all him.

The UFC was paying him around $25,000 before that short notice fight.

That's the thing.

Nate was red hot after the McGregor bouts. If he just signed a fight contract with literally anyone he would have received tons of promotion and money.

Now no one gives a shit about him or his idiot brother.
False.

You should know the UFC by now, they're not eager to pay you big bucks. They were not going to pay him the same money to fight, otherwise he would obviously have fought.

Nate didn't refuse fights because he was being a drama queen. He said he wasn't going to take a pay cut. He made $7mil to fight Conor, and that was going to be his price for the next fight. The UFC wasn't willing to pay close to that. The UFC isn't willing to pay anyone. They even refused to pay Conor his asking price, that's why Conor has been away for so long.

They refused to pay GSP as well... and negotiations there took a year, and only through desperation after Ronda retired, and Conor refused to fight... then did they give GSP respectable money.

You should know by now that the UFC doesn't not treat their fighters fairly. They take the lions share of the money while the fighters risk everything... their well-being included. This is COMBAT sports.

Speculators have absolutely NO rights whatsoever to bitch at another human being for not stepping into the cage to risk getting a concussion. If the person doesn't feel they money he is offered, is worth him risking brain damage... then no one else should be able to say any different

He got promoted into a fight and a payday he didn't deserve.
How did he not deserve it? He pimpslapped and choked out McGregor on two weeks notice. He helped make the company a lot of money, and McGregors reputation was at stake if Diaz didn't give him the rematch. He leveraged his win with the desperation of WME and McGregor, and parlayed it into a rumored 10+million dollar payday. If the UFC didn't think the rematch was worth it, they wouldn't have payed him. The market bore him that payday because he stepped up and stopped the Great Irish Hope, he absolutely deserved it.

Nate can't be promoted without mentioning Conor. His entire legacy is a gift from Conor. How can Diaz be promoted without milking his famous win? He just can't. Poor record, pillow fists, can't speak properly and rarely fights. There's a reason he was never a draw.

How was it a gift? He took that shit. You can't call stopping a guy within two rounds on two weeks notice "a gift." That would be like saying Aldo "gifted" Conor his credibility. It's a retarded line of thinking.

Nate Diaz has been around for a VERY long time.

Just because you noobs didn't know he was before Conor McGregor... doesn't mean his legacy is surrounded around Conor.

Nate was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter... one of the original seasons when the show was still legit... including submitting Gray Maynard.

Nate has since had 20+ UFC fights, and has the record for most post-fight bonuses.

His legacy was intact even before Conor stepped into the Octagon.

But yea, great that you casuals finally know who he is because he beat Conor. Good for you. Welcome to MMA.

At 20 to show, 20 to win, fighting twice a year, that's truck driver wages if he wins. He's been fighting in the UFC since 2007. I bet Buffer was making more money than Nate until recently.
Agreed. Bruce should shut the fuck up especially when he should remain completely neutral as the man who announces the fighter. People are there to see Nate, not Bruce fucking Buffer. It's awkward for the announcer to start a beef with a fighter they need to present.

Bruce Buffer needs to shut the fuck up. "I love Nate." Nate don't give a fuck. Why is the Hype man speaking about Talent? Know your roll and shut the fuck up. The next time he's doing his Buffer 360 someone needs to roundhouse kick him in his throat.

You're making my point.

When they needed the money, Georges was booked in a fight that didn't make much sense to service their need.

GSP was a career long company man who rained down tens of millions in profit for the UFC every time they fought, and they literally kicked him on his way out the door.

So that and been in the UFC for a long time is his legacy?

Someone posted a video of Diaz labelled; 'Diaz contradicting himself' - that's up to whoever watches it if he has been or hasn't. Anyway, in the video Diaz was some podcast type thing and started theorizing that 1st there was the American fighters they promoted/era, then the Brazilians, and now the European fighter. I thought they was odd thinking if he genuinely believes that.

If you bring in money, you'll get paid more - it's the same at any level of MMA. Even Vick in those VT's before the fight last night was talking about how he wasn't promoted or under promoted. As well as under paying fighters, the UFC are awful at promoting, imo. I always found those prime time shows great and gave me a buzz for the fights.

The norm is the UFC announce a fight, get a load of the fighters to do a press conference together, then when the fight is upcoming - usually Helwani will have them on his show and then fight week they do a rake of interviews and media lunches.

Look at 'the biggest fight in MMA history' they announced it and that's it. Dana said they were going to do some 'cool stuff' which knowing him probably was his way of deflecting away from the question.

Fuck anything this goofball has to say. He thinks his shit dont stink cuz he calls out fighters name on live tv. Ufc didnt make nate shit he earned those money, that fight sold itself. Remember when nate was getting paid like 10/10 before conor fight. Wtfff????

Bruce Buffer has never struck me as a very bright guy. As a dude who literally yells for a living, I guess he doesn't need to be.
Not bright guy lmao. You are a fucking dumbass, he makes 100k a event and more for big cards. He helped his bother Michael make millions with his trademark catchphrase, “Let’s get ready to rumble.” Bruce is very smart business man. Show how dumb you really are.
