He's intentionally being a dumbass, but it is an emotional response to cutting just about any government funding. The federal government empoyees so many people that any cut results in job loss, which results in a sob story, which is usually bad political optics. It's why even temporary programs stick around forever. DEI is worse than useless, it is actively negative when implemented, but has built an industry of professionals making it difficult to fully eliminate.

DEI is like paying for and injecting cancer into your organism yourself.

How does one separate dei hires from regular hires?

This thread and the articles around it are kinda misleading. It's not the firing of DEI hires, but looks to be just the positions for people with DEI somewhere in their job description. Like the director of DEI at X agency or the Department to Improve DEI initiatives in Agriculture.

To be fair, there were quite a number of 'What, they're going to fire all the black and brown people and women now!?!?' and 'So much for cutting costs, he's paying them to not work!' responses in this thread.

But you're right, if people were reasonable and actually listened/read the article, the order was clear on which persons are actually affected.

I work at a gov agency and we just got the memo to discontinue all dei things. Take down fliers. Remove language from trainings. Even said if we know if any depts that have changed language to try and sneak it thru, we are supposed to report it.

There is a trans girl that works here. To clarify it's a guy who we all call she, she acts like a girl, etc. she's super nice, I'd consider her a friend. we have strict roles males perform and females perform. This coworker performs the female role. I wonder what will happen with that.
