Opinion If you thought the federal workforce was bad before it's going to be absolute shit by the time Trump and Elon are done with it

It’s definitely bloated and I’ve met a lot of people that do very little to nothing. But it’s still going to be what 1-5% jobs cuts ?

Personally I don't have a problem with a federal workforce reduction but how they're going about it is the issue I have with this. Given how massive the federal workforce is, it's improbable for Elon and his team to have gone through each department effectively in such a short time span.

In all likelihood, to meet their reduction goals, they are indiscriminately laying off federal employees or pressuring people to leave. These are people's lives you are playing with but Trump nor Elon care. These are just blank faces to them and they'll be gone in 4 years anyway.

I guess a cool slogan about removing government waste and inefficiencies is all you need these days. As long as it isn't your job right?

Having worked around VA's for a few years now and dealing with construction contracting I can say I've definitely observed waste and an incredible amount of inefficiency. If it's the same across all or most departments, which I'll assume it is, then yeah we're getting fucked big time especially in contracting. Reform is most definitely needed. That being said this administration is using that among other things to justify their dismantling and then further corruption of govt and federal institutions and their fanatics are eating it up. It's all fucked every which way you look at it. I think the only way forward is a dismantling of the current two party system or the creation of a new party geared more towards the majority, working class.

Should call the new party something relevant to the society, like social-ists, or something with a community kind of vibe, like commune-ists or something.

Yes because anything that weighs the powers of the working class as equal to the upper classes is automatically evil and the boogeyman.

Pay ten idiots to do a job or pay two smart guys to do the job. Hmm...

Virginia has the largest population of federal workers if I remember correctly. Will be interesting to see if this dumb shit pushes VA blue

Virginia has been blue for awhile. The amount of federal workers that live there are precisely the reason it is blue. The more bloated DC got. The more blue Virginia became.

Which also gives away that federal workers are overwhelmingly left wing as suspected.

One of the things about working for the government is it was always seen as a secure job that made up for it having lower wages compared to jobs in the private sector. Now Trump and Elon have shown that even job security for federal employees is not really a thing. So who's gonna even want to work for the government now? People who couldn't get a job anywhere else?

I also think that the hard anti federal employee stance that Trump has taken with Elon along with other Trump Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene is gonna cost them some votes as well. Many federal employees are Republican, or were at least
A secure job for people who do their job. Not for people who spend all day on group chats talking about growing tits and having their butthole shocked.

With the average federal salary around 100K, 145 with benefits and the known lack of discipline, accountability and effective management this thread should be growing fungi in the wasteland.

I find it amusing the people that tried force everyone to take a jab to keep their jobs are upset that they have to actually work in order to keep their jobs.
