You laugh but these programs are actively destroying merit based hiring in many places. Just paying them to not continue to harm the country would be better than paying them to harm the country. However they should be cut off like a cancerous tumor at the earliest possible moment.

Except it does? If you ran a company, would you hire based on racial equity or who can provide you the most money? Absent of external forces like Blackrock that are forcing ESG on companies by threat of withholding investments and government programs that are forced onto the population. You would want the person who best serves the company.

They are not getting rid of any DEI hires, they are getting rid of the people running DEI programs, maintaining DEI websites and training courses, as well as axing the external contractors that are consulting on these bullshit DEI initiatives :rolleyes:

Got it, that's what I figured the title meant. I don't know anything about HR law, but it wouldn't surprise me if paid leave was the only way such roles could be immediately dealt with. You can't just fire them (at least, I don't think you can), but at least this way you can keep them from doing any more hiring or implementing any more policies.

I don't think trump can argue firing for DEI cuts it. They'll almost certainly get a stay until SCOTUS can take it up. I can't see even a conservative court contorting enough to make this lawful.

If Trump really want's to attack "DEI," he should just stick with attacking programs/organizations within the control of the Executive.

You certainly can discriminate based on race as long as you're discriminating against whites or Asians. That's how DEI hires are made in the first place.

I cannot imagine how this could possibly be implemented without severely crippling the operating power of these organizations. Not to mention having to continue paying these individuals to not work for an unknown amount of time is a horrendous waste of money. Just a bullshit EO that's gonna get overturned.
DEI departments have nothing but unfavorable impact on P&L's, and have no impact whatsoever on operations. They're less valuable than Admin, and the department is classified as an expense and allocated to other departments for the monthly income statement.
