For Rhonda, it was that she was a 'once in a lifetime' athlete. To be fair she was and is a decent athlete and a champion, just no where near the level the UFC was hyping her up to be

Other UFC marketing hype con jobs include

Shamrock v Tito - Three times ! convincing the public that Shamrock had anything at all for Tito. Shamrock was so far shot, it was like a women's soccer team playing Brazil.

That James Toney had any business being in the Octagon - nuff said

That CM punk had any business being in the Octagon - nuff said

There have been some overhyping but the above examples are of outright fraud
not the same brazil team that got butt fucked by germany cuz that team will lose against womens team
