best wrestlers (in the world) are gonna get beat in Future UFC/MMA WRESTLING IS NOT BEST MMA BASE

I started the Louisville fight club in 1993 when the UFC first aired...
And you called it "fight club" back in 1993, before the movie or even book with the same name came out? You started your own proto-MMA gym same year as UFC 1? I'm calling your bluff on that unless you have serious documentation. For one thing, almost no one in the U.S. outside the Gracies had any clue about this stuff, and even their skills weren't well rounded. If your club was any good, you should've been sending people to the early UFCs.

The Louisville MMA Fight Club was one of the first MMA gyms in the United States and fielded Fighters for the sport in the dark days when MMA wasent a household name.

Except no one called it "MMA" until years later. I was one of the earliest posters on the early NHB boards on AOL, so I know a thing or two about the early days. It was a very small world back then. People like Mark Tripp (who helped train Dan Severn) were active participants, and so was at least one guy who fought in an early UFC. I never heard a thing about the "Louisville Fight Club" though.

Dude hes claimed a million and one things, it's all BS.

Claims he competed for decades and had 2 or 3 losses, which he avenged

<{MingNope}>

One thing is for sure, he definitely has been hit before lol

Dude..
you are talking to a guy that claims he would beat Karelin,
he claimed in a thread he and Louisville fight club are the "founding fathers" of MMA in US.
He talks about him and Kabib as they are they are the same.

When proven wrong he simply post videos and never replies and then changes subject.

Its funny and sad.

We fought in bars community centers bingo halls and parking lots in addition to major conference centers and areana

My accomplishments as a coach and an athlete are totally irrelevant

Some of the best boxing analysts in the world have neither participated in or coached sport of boxing

It has NOTHING TO DO with your expert opnion

Most time coaches are crap athletes and athletes are crap coaches and neither one are good at analytics

Our club won thousands of victories over the years and created multiple pro fighters

I will NEVER use an athletes name to defend my opnion
Lol i call bs on you. The same year UFC 1 aired?
Noone in the US knew what MMA or fcking "Shooto" was. I just half the shit your claiming would be true, someone would habe heard about you or your gym since basically everybody who was only remotely involved in this, competed in tournaments or started training fighters to gain exposure and market themselfes.
You are only giving vague phrases. Name some names, drop some facts.
Because of this is true the history of the sport must be rewritten..
But i highly doubt it.

You wrestle someone outside a nightclub or chip shop at 3am, chances are his mates will stomp on your head or put a knife in your back. Same with BJJ.

They are both sports, not martial arts. I've trained both for over 20 years now, yet still train my right hand sucker punch and running away technique the most.

Soon as a martial art or any form of combat develops rules, it becomes merely a sport, and moves further and further from effectiveness in the real world.

It becomes a dance between two partners who have learned the same moves, and the winner is the one who dances best that night.

If wrestling was the best base for MMA these great olympic caliber wrestlers wouldn't be beaten in MMA (by strikes)

Wrestling cant finish an opponant

Its only value is positional

Wrestling is a good base for MMA,
HOWEVER...
Its not the best base for MMA
The person who can dictate where the fight takes place wins the fight most often. Karelin would beat a fat one year jv wrestler like you in mma without even training. He would probably ko you via slam within a minute tbh.

Stop going to nightclubs alone then dork

Nah, dude. Karelin, one of the most beastly wrestlers of all time, would definitely lose to a guy in Walmart basketball shorts who gasses in seconds from throwing sloppy haymakers.

Looks like Mescaline Dreams' delusions of ko'ing Leben isn't the worst thing a Sherdog poster has claimed.

in 50 years fighters you wont see any grapplers/wrestlers in the top 15 (any divison).

striking >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> grappling

it is just a matter of time.

The thing is there are claims (no real source) that Karelin trained in Combat Sambo as well.

I know an old story from a Swedish wrestling coach about him.
The Swedish wrestlers was doing 3 reps in bench press (cant recall the weight but it was heavy as fuck)
Karelin was there and the Swedes decided to play a joke on him.
Told him they were just warming up... Karelin says "oh ok" and starts to "warm up" on the wrestlers "max".
It was not the Sr wrestlers but it was still insane.

I dont think people today understand how special Karelin really was...
Dude bought a new fridge (you know the old 80 version and Russian ones) carried it up to his 3 floor apartment by him self.

Anybody online claiming they would beat Karelin in any thing lifting / martial arts I laugh at.
Maybe in UFC on PS3

Did you catch that reply yet??

Shooto IS MMA

Thats why its the best base...

Not wrestling

Now post something about wrestling instead of a cartoon

...do you know anything about wrestling???

Why do you say Shooto is the best base for MMA if Shooto is MMA?
Why not just say MMA is the best base for MMA?

its a "trick"
question

99% of these guys took the bait...LOL

SHOOTO and Pankration ARE MMA!!!

they are handled like martial arts and not like publicly funded combat sports

THATS why they dont have a presence in the top levels of American MMA

cool man, interesting take on it

any B grade amateur heavyweight could beat the greatest greco roman wrestler that has lived in modern times because Alexander Karelin spent his whole life learning and perfecting wrestling and NOT developing ANY MMA SKILLS

the take home message is that putting all your eggs in the "wrestling" basket will NOT MAKE YOU A GOOD MMA FIGHTER !!!

thats why the BEST WRESTLERS IN THE WORLD are gonna get beat in future MMA and UFC !!!

thats because wrestling IS NOT THE BEST BASE FOR MMA !!!

[shooto and pankration are because they ARE MMA] !!!

they are handled like a for profit martial art and NOT LIKE A PUBLICLY FUNDED COMBAT SPORTS [THATS WHY THEY DONT DOMINATE MMA]

one can CLEARLY see the peanut gallery resorting to desperate attempts to shift the focus of the thread on to MY PERSONAL coaching and competition background and AVOID the message of the thread!
