Well I was born with Noonan Syndrome, Noonan syndrome is a genetic disorder that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. A person can be affected by Noonan syndrome in various ways: unusual facial characteristics, short stature, heart defects, other physical problems and possibly lower intelligence.
Basically I was mostly spared the defects in terms of my stature. I however got fucked over in the heart department. Doc found out I had a massive hole in my heart that was if my memory is correct was causing blood to leak out of one my valves. I was only 2. Told my parents that I had a 10% chance of surviving the surgery and if they didn't do the surgery I'd be dead in a year. So yeah you can imagine my parents were a mess. I survived the surgery and had my 15 minutes of fame. Newspaper story, and a local news report about me.
I was 12 during the second surgery which was much more routine and just involved fixing up some issues they couldn't get at when I had my first one. However when I went home I got massively sick and ended up having fluid build up in my lungs that nearly killed me because I stopped breathing in the house and had to be rushed to the ER. Had to have a tube put in me for the fluid to be taken out of my lungs. Doc couldn't give me meds when he took the tube out and I can safely say that was the worst pain I ever felt my life.
All in all I had a recent check up with my cardiologist, I'm 28 now and he said my heart is functioning perfectly and that I won't need any further surgeries until I'm in my late 70's early 80's.
