I think Drive is an amazing film. But I guess it's a bit divisive because it has a definite style and pace that won't be for everyone. If you're expecting a straight up action flick about douchebags driving cars - it's not that at all. I see it as a tragic love story. dat final scene

For unknown reasons there's lot of hate for Refn in the Mayberry. He's a master at using palette of colors to bring the story to life. @Zer
Point Break or Gattaca.Alright guys. I want to hear your single favorite movie of all time. Any genre and any decade.
I'l admit, I'm going to sort through these and watch them.

Cape fear (De Niro)
Silence of the lambs
But as for an experience id never imagined would live up to my expectations, i'll have to go with the GOAT trilogy;

Haters gonna hate, but I class this trilogy as one film, doesn't make sense otherwise.
I mean I can see some people thinking there maybe overpraised relative to other more ambitious films but I suspect a big issue is, "I was tricked into watching a drama by the promise of action",
Probably missing a few obvious ones but looking at this millennium quickly I'd say a top 30 I'v seen so far(so far from exhaustive) of something like...
Fellowship of the Ring
Spirited Away
Millennium Actress
The Two Towers
Master and Commander
Return of the King
Lost in Translation
Cache/Hidden
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Inglorious Basterds
In Bruges
There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Moon
Dogtooth
Black Swan
True Grit
The American
Blue Jasime
13 Assassins
Drive
Blue is The Warmest Colour
Ida
Under The Skin
Nigthcrawler

Hateful Eight
Rogue One
Three Billboards
Of your selections I like Drive, In Bruges, Lost in Translation, Moon, Nightcrawler and Under the Skin. Love Scarlett's titties.![]()
Honestly the last 10 years or so quite a lot of the best cinema has been quite sexually explicite(could add Blue Valentine, The Handmaiden, Shame, Ex Machina etc), I spose you could argue this has tended to an area that's not been covered as much previously by more ambitious cinema(at least in the US/UK) so is rather fresher.
