Media Aspinall: I am ready to move on from Jones

Jones , stopped two champs in a row. Who were high ranked

Stipe being "ranked" was an absolute joke. Almost 43 years old coming off an almost 4 year layoff to collect a paycheck. Why ruin your credibility trying to sell it as anything else?

The Gane win was nice for Jones, but him being a deer in headlights and conceding an immediate TD and then tapping quickly doesn't have a "dangerous" vibe. In MMA, the word "dangerous" is generally referencing someone who is likely to knock you the fuck out.

So the beast is more dangerous than Jones ?

By using a certain word? It’s weird. I remember last time this happened, we all saw big nog as the champ, while Randy and Brock was just a nice money making fight/freakshow spectacle and saw mir as the real champ when he fought Brock.

I guess it really does matter how you say things in this day and age
Wtf are you talking about? He's making a mockery of the sport by refusing to strip Jon Jones of the title.

So the beast is more dangerous than Jones ?

The Beast? You mean Derrick Lewis?

I'd say that overall success factors in to a degree so someone saying Jones is a "more dangerous" fight than Lewis isn't egregious. But there are absolutely people who would argue that while Jones is quite clearly the BETTER fighter, he's not more DANGEROUS than Lewis.

Dangerous inherently implies that you can get hit with something big and be put out quickly in the context of MMA. Unless you qualify it as a "dangerous grappler" I guess...but nobody uses that phrasing. Jones systematically breaks people down. The threat of immediate, fight ending violence isn't there so in MMA speak, "dangerous" isn't a word most use to describe him. "Great", "cerebral", etc...yes.

I've been over this for quite some time, If jones wants to fight he will. If he doesn't want to fight and the UFC wants him to, they just need to pay up.

20 million dollars and jones takes the fight but if it's not worth that, let it go.

Did Jones personally tell you that's his #?

I've heard $10m, then $30m...seems like it's a moving target.

Jones fought in november, I dont think he should be stripped of the title until atleast 1 year after his last defense...

Not fighting for a year is borderline but he needs to at least SIGN to fight by mid summer. If there's a signed commitment, okay. Waiting a full year with him stalling? Lame.

I assume it's somewhere in the middle of those numbers. I dont think jones would say no to 20 million dollars.

Maybe not...but if it's ONLY money he should just publicly give his "take it or leave it" number at this point. A few months ago you could argue it's part of the negotiation process for him not to do that and hold his cards tight. At this point, we are past that. Just say $20m I'm in, a dollar less I'm out. End of negotiations.

Then everyone knows and it's transparent and if the UFC won't pay the fans can choose who to honestly be pissed at.

This will go down as the biggest duck in mma history IMO. And doesn’t get more blatant than that. And that’s coming from someone who defended Jon through almost everything in his career
Yep. Despite all his criminal issues and drug test failures I'd still sit there and defend him being the greatest technically to ever do it, but he's completely lost me at this point.

I'll even defend the Ngannou "duck" because Jon had never fought at HW and it's not like he was holding anything up, but this is indefensible. At this point I don't even blame him though, the UFC should've stripped him already.

The UFC created this mess, and they're allowing it to continue. And when it inevitably falls apart, Dana will likely reverse course and blame Jones...when, in reality, it was the UFC's fault all along.

Meanwhile, Aspinall is wasting his prime on this nonsense. He's only had 1 fight in the last year and half, with no return date in sight. He should have had at least 3 fights in that time.
Could’ve built up the division and a new star during that year and a half but Dana wants to bend over for Jones. Such a dumbass.

Like I said, last time this happened, none of us cared, but this is a new sensitive era I guess.
No, the difference is Jon Jones went from getting some leniency to immediately taking another full year off.

If someone gets injured and is out for 1.5 years without defending their title, it's fair to expect them to have a 6 month turnaround after that. You don't get to go take another year off.
