Media Aspinall: I am ready to move on from Jones

Aspinall trying to skip the line so that he doesn't have to risk losing. Somehow Mr Most Dangerous fighter hasn't fought the best grappler or striker in the shallow as fuck HW division but acts like Jones is obligated to fight him hahaha, English Primadonna. Jones has barely fought at HW and the Gane win is better than any win Aspinall has, let that sink in. And even old Stipe might be a better win than anything Aspinall has.....

He knows it's 50/50 he gets subbed by Almeida or KOd by Gane, it's not a coincidence that he hasn't fought the two best fighters in the division besides Jones.

"...and I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet, but I’m literally the most dangerous guy in the UFC if you look at the stats."

Not even close Tom. Derrick Lewis has twice as many KO's as you and thats why you keep ducking him.

Derrick Lewis has 10 losses in the UFC, including two in the first minute of the fight. He has a 79% finishing rate in his 19 wins.

Tom Aspinall has a 100% finishing rate for his entire career.

I'm all for UFC fighters making more money but we all know their business model is just not the same.
Agreed, but do we really all know that?

Some posters on here don't even know what a business model is, let alone how the UFC operates.

It's weird that Aspinall has continued with the mealy mouthed faux 'respectful' act, as if verablly genuflecting will help him get the Jones fight.

He did the same thing when he just allowed himself to be cucked by Stipe without protest.

He should be calling Jones a duck and every insult under the sun every day. This may not get him the fight, but it would at least put more pressure on the UFC and Jones and would boost his own profile.

This will go down as the biggest duck in mma history IMO. And doesn’t get more blatant than that. And that’s coming from someone who defended Jon through almost everything in his career

Sorry dude, it's probably painful being that dumb. Life must be hard for you, I hope you navigate it okay.

I know it sounds silly at first because Tom has been walking through everyone but the fact remains that he doesn't have a win as good as Gane.

I just watched Gane gifted a decision over Volkov. Everyone knows Gane lost that fight. Aspinall ran through Volkov inside a round. Stop trying to make yourself look stupid dude.

The very idea of defending an interim belt is stupid... defending it twice? No.

Aspinall fights for the undisputed belt next, whomever it will be against. Jon will fight or be vacated.
Tom should become the greatest UFC interim champion of all time Renan Barao has 2 defenses so Tom needs 3 title defenses THEN he'll be legendary enough for Jon Jones to fight

That's what you brought to the table after calling me dumb? MMAth in 2025 in a fight with a clear as day injured fighter? So what is your point exactly, that Volkov is better than Gane? You have an IQ probably around the 40% percentile I'm afraid.

if there's one thing you shouldn't do in this game, it's sit and wait for an opponent/opportunity that most likely, never comes.

aspinall has not maneuvered and countered with his initial strategy, that hasn't panned out.

he should be fighting more, KO'ing the "easy" HW division, causing more mayhem and controversey that jones still wont fight. he has no leverage at this point. if he had easily KO'd two more bums this whole time, he'd have more leverage, more talking points. he's coasting off a almost year old curtis blaydes win. who cares? the game is short and he could have fought alot more, beating this easy competition if he's so damn great.

yes, in a perfect world jones would have just fought. but the UFC put themselves into this position in the first place. it is the UFC's faul for not being able to force their own champion to fight in their company. they've given jones too much and now they've fucked themselves.

tl, dr - aspinall should not chandler this situation, he needs to make the most of it now

Yeah but UFC might just be forcing Aspinall to wait it out, like they're keeping him on the shelf for whenever Jon is ready, because $$$.

it doesn't benefit them though when both the champ and interim are sitting out, just because, you know, they might fight.

they have to pivot soon, you can't have both the champ and interim fightless for a year +.

personally, if i was UFC i'd strip jon and abandon that whole goat angle they were trying to go with him. and then go back to a muh more realistic / legitimate ranking system with the understanding, there's no easy title shots anymore.

I think part of it is they don't want to pay Aspinall even near the same amount of money to fight a bum, or two bums wouldn't equal the amount he'd make fighting Jones, so he's probably fucked in negotiations. Dana's probably telling him you'll make the biggest paycheck of your life fighting Jon, or he'd make 300-500k fighting the #2 or #3 guy. So he's just waiting for them to send a contract.
