Arman Tsarukyan Says He Would Finish Ilia Topuria In First Round

Lots of fighters act like divas. I don’t think icing them is the right thing to do. Especially when they’re #1 ranked.
I dont think refusing every fight given is the right thing to do either. Especially when he had a title fight that he pulled out of.

he should just fight someone. Then this wouldn't be a discussion. Illa has fought 3 times since armen last fought.

He beat Oliveira fair and square though. Same guy Topuria just beat. He pulled out from an injury. The next title shot went to Oliveira instead. Isn’t that punishment enough?

I don’t think gifting unearned title shots to spite a fighter makes any sense. The dude is clearly #1 contender. He missed his shot at Makhachev and then watched His last win take his title spot. Just let him bang bro.

*heres 18+ months to train, recover and keep fight milage off your frame while the rest of your competition continues to fight and you get a title shot anyway*

Where's the punishment?
18+ months?. He prepped for a fight in Jan and pulled out. He weighed in as backup for UFC 317. Next title fight would hopefully be before the end of the year.

I’d rather see a proper title defence against a rested, healed and #1 contender, instead of a lower ranked guy coming off a KO loss and a pointless rematch. The former is much more relevant and interesting to me than the latter. Maybe that’s just me.

His unprofessional weight management cost him the time lost, no one else is responsible for wasting a fucking thing.
"Diet starts tomorrow"

He's still doing stupid fuckin food posts lol. Kid certainly doesn't help his own case whatsoever.

I get more of a "gluttonous spoiled midge" than "world champion fighter" feeling but hey, who am I.

He will have to go through paddy first. Gaethje will get the title fight.
Then he can move up to Welterweight and claim there were no challenges at LW.
^^^
This is cherry picking at its finest.
Hey everyone, let's all give Topper the easiest fight in the division.

It wasn’t a weigh in issue, wasn’t it a back injury?
Moicano confirmed that the night before weigh in, Hunter Camphbell called him saying "Make sure you make 155 on the dot tomorrow. You're probably fighting for the belt, both guys are heavy."

The "back injury" was to save face.

Well after seeing that vid you just posted of all the fast food in his car, I don’t know how he’s not as big as Pimblett. Jesus Christ 😂 that’s a lot of fckin food.

18+ months?.

Yes, It seems outrageous, I know but it's entirely accurate. 18+ months as he has last fought in april of 2024. It has now been 16 months since he has not fought. Since we know their theoretical fight would not be until november at the absolutely earliest, that would place 18+ months MINIMUM between his fight with oliveria and his next fight should he get a title shot As we know Topuria will not fight sooner than Nov/Dec (no September PPV, October has 2 title fights)

Perhaps, but if we're talking about what is merited, Gaethje had gotten KO'd for the first time in his career (Never been out out mostly TKO'd) the same night armen fought Charles. both Gaethje And Armen had good claim to a title fight before 300. Gaethje Just KO'd Porier who also fought for a title a bit a go.

Gaethje had a title fight in his grasp, and took a fight with max instead. took the worse loss of his entire career, bounced back and took a fight.

and you WANT armen to have it? you dont want the guy who actually came back went out and took the fight he was given by the promotion who was already sitting on an earned title shot? You'd rather the guy that has turned down fighters he's lost to already, crying foul their rankings are too low?

I think respect for the game and rewards for fighters who actually take risks and fight, rather than sit and wait is what should be encouraged. But maybe that's just me.

Sure, but if Arman was ready for UFC 317 and Oliveira got the title shot instead, I'm not going to tally that as inactivity for Arman if he was ready and willing but got passed up for the the guy he beat last. Like I said, passing him up seems like adequate punishment, imo. Penalizing him further for inactivity after purposely shutting him out, seems like a self fulfilling exercise.

Gaethje beat Poirier in July 2023 though. Giving him only a 2 fight win streak since his last title shot. He got another BMF fight with Max (and title eliminator of sorts), (hence why Max got the next shot at FTW) . The part that makes less sense is POirier getting the title shot after the single win, but that another matter.

Gaethje had 2 title fights in his last 7 fights and was finished in both. The reality is that he's on a 1 fight win streak. So I still say we award the title fight to the guy with the longer win streak, the higher ranking

I like Gaethje as much as Arman. I really do. I honestly just want the most worthy opponent not the busiest. And by the way, Arman has fought more times than Gaethje in the past 3 years (6 fights vs 5 fights). And Arman's last fight was officially a title eliminator bout.
I think respect for the game and rewards for fighters who actually take risks and fight, rather than sit and wait is what should be encouraged. But maybe that's just me.
You make a compelling case for Gaethje and I respect that. Just giving my rationale for why I think Arman should still be ahead. I think a fair case can be made for both. As a fan of the sport, I think Arman is the tougher challenge and Gaethje is the extremely favourable matchup (brawler, faceplant KO'd by Max). I like seeing champs taking the toughest fights. That's what championship fights are supposed to be about.

Do you know who is usually the loser in these situations? It's the fans. Arman is clearly the number one contender at 155. Fans who are wanting to ^^punish^^ him are just depriving themselves of a good matchup.

arman needs to take a fucking fight. he's been inacive for 16 weeks.

Since beating Charlies Oliveira he has rejected a title shot against islam twice because he wasn't happy with the time frame and then after finally accepting pulled out last second because the stars werent' aligned.

Since that fuck up, he has rejected fights against Gamrot, FIziev and BSD.

After all this bs he is now calling for a title shot. Dude take a fight so no one rolls their eyes at you getting a title shot.
Inactive for 16 weeks? He hasn't fought since 300. By time he fights again woyld be nearly 2 years.

He's confident. He believes in himself. Something a fat couch potato would never understand.
