Are you an Ankalaev fan?

Not a fan, he's a sore loser and has low fight IQ (let Jan kick him in the legs for 3 rounds, only decided to grapple out of desperation once he was at risk for getting TKO'd via leg damage)

Good fighter with all the fundamentals needed to be champion, but I'm not a fan at all

He looked very promising when he was on the rise. Had exciting fights against Volkan, Cutelaba, and others. Good counter striker with grappling to boot.

I thought he might be champion caliber but I started questioning his fight IQ after the Jan fight and the illegal knee to Walker.

Stylistically he poses a real threat to Pereira but tomorrow's performance should tell us if he's the real deal or not.

Let’s see him win in a convincing and non-controversial manner…. Then, maybe…

Why do people mention everything outside of fighting? Do yall gush over Tom Brady's or Lebron's life outside of the sports arena? MMA fans really are very low iq.

And as a fighter, I'm not really for or against him. I'm not the biggest fans of crotch sniffers and Ank can be one of those at times. But he tries to stand and bang more than not. Also, his GnP was pretty decent against Jan if I'm membering right, which if you gonna sniff that crotch, at least drop some loads on their face.

Boring as fuck to watch, massive douchebag, and seems very unintelligent and unaware.

Lots of skill though, and has a very good chance to become champ at some point. I really hope he doesn't though.

What is actually so bad about ankalaev? I get that he doesnt have a personality or whatever, but there’s soooo many fighters like that. Does anyone like shavkat becuase of his amazing personality?

yes, he cried after the jan fight, becuase he honestly believes he won. I don’t, but you can’t understand why?

the knee against walker, people already disliked him before that so I don’t think that’s the reason, but yes he shouldn’t have thrown the knee and it probably should have been a DQ but no one would ever consider that a real loss anyways

is he boring? A bit. He could have finished volkan, but it was still a fun fight. The first round against smith wasn’t the best, but then he pounded him out in the second

SOMEONE TELL ME!!!

I used to be a fan because he's clearly talented but the Jan fight left me feeling indifferent towards him. From his strategy in that fight to crying about the draw. Maybe he'll put it all together.

He's alright, solid fighter that's well rounded and skilled there's not much to hate on.

Walker on the hand is very unlikeable

It wierd to see the hate he is getting. Yes I am a fan of his skills but IMO he lacks fight IQ. The guy could have been undefeated, but he tapped in like a second to go end of fight. He had Jan kick his legs and make him a cripple until he realized he knows how to wrestle

Yes, I am. Good fighter and one of the best "recent" additions to LHW.

I like the much-needed depth of talent he adds to 205 as a decently well-rounded guy who can fight to a gameplan and give anyone a run for their money. I think he has championship-caliber potential. Words cannot describe how much I appreciate these things. But outside the cage he occasionally comes off as a bit of an entitled/oblivious/aloof prick with an unfortunate lack of self-awareness.

Hell, even inside the cage he sometimes frustrates the hell out of me by seemingly refusing to grasp the perceived potential I and so many others have assigned to him. His fight IQ is... not as great as I would like for a fighter of his caliber. Getting caught in a triangle in tapping in the last five seconds of the third round of a fight he was dominating. Fouling an opponent in a fight he's winning handily. Pursuing the path of greatest adversity by refusing to wrestle guys he has a tremendous grappling advantage over until late in the bout. Occasionally showing a lack of killer instinct when it comes to finishing fights... I feel like a lot of people see him as the uncrowned king of 205 and the greatest LHW of this currently shallow era for the division that was once the UFC's flagship. I genuinely believe he possesses the tools to be that guy... on-paper. But instead he just seems content on coming across as fighting down to the level of "pretty good" in his performances, which is unfortunate.

So to answer the question... no, I wouldn't say I'm a "fan" nor is he one of my favorite fighters on the roster or anything. But I also don't dislike him at all. I always tune into his fights, though.

Apparently he had a limp at the weigh in’s

While recognizing his ability, no, I'm not a fan. If he disappeared from reality, I'd barely notice.

I can only speak for myself, but I've found him boring for a really long time.

LHW is a lower level division, but it's interesting because anybody can be champ. I want fun matchups for that division, but Ankalaev is efficient and could very well become champ and stink up the division.

And his recent antics certainly didn't help.

It's because he's an extremely talented fighter that makes really stupid decisions and then blames everyone else. Shavkat doesn't do that shit.
