Are you an Ankalaev fan?

Well of course, Pereira made Adesanya look like Khabib so or course Pereira fans are praying for Ankalaev to get viciously knocked out this weekend. It's normal! :D

Yeah, but Jan (the guy who crippled Ankalaev's legs) ... got his legs crippled by Pereira, and lost to Pereira.

Had it been a five rounder, Jan would likely have been KO'd by Pereira.

You remember, the same Jan who drew with Ankalaev?

I don't think Ankalaev would submit Pereira; I think Pereira would knock out Ankalaev.

In fact, Pereira called Ankalaev out, and that were crickets from Ankalaev ;)

Pereira got to fight a worse, older Jan at elevation and in a shorter fight, I don't think there's too much to brag about his performance vs Ankalaev's. Aside from the getting the W, which most people felt Ankalaev should've gotten anyways.

Well, we're each entitled to our own opinion.

As I recall, Pereira was at the same elevation Jan was, so I'm not sure what your point is concerning elevation...
As I also recall, Jan was Pereira's first fight moving up in weight (in MMA) ...
Still, you forgot to acknowledge how much better Pereira's leg kicking was than Jan's, and yet Jan was eating Ankalaev's legs up with his kicks.

As I further recall, Pereira had Jan out on his feet at the end of the second (with most commentators, and even Jamahal Hill, seeing an eminent KO).
By the third, Jan was desperately looking to lay-and-pray, after receiving a bone-jolting jab, followed by a crippling check-hook.

But we all know it's MMA, so anything can happen.

That said, in a 5-round fight, my vision is either Ankalaev gets his submission early ... or Pereira stifles all submission attempts for 1-2 rounds, as usual, after which Ankalaev gets tired trying and then KTFO in the later rounds.

Time will tell.

Wow, seems like not even the bathtub brigade is backing up Cryialaev.

Honestly this sport would be better without athletes like him (and before I’m called a racist or hater again, this has nothing to do where he comes from or what he believes in). His acts inside the cage don’t show any good sportmanship.

"Acts inside the cage" He's been in the UFC for years and you're framing the 3 second decision to illegally knee Walker as that significant?

Sounds like you have something else against him. Unless there's a series of fouls he's committed over the years you can point to, not just one.

I enjoy most of his fights, and loved watching his saga with Ion, but he's completely turned me off of him as a fan with his behavior lately.

I'm looking for any true Ankalaev fans

Please let your presence be known, I would like to study you in a lab

Yeah, maybe I should have said acts inside the cage and what followed after that, and how he has handled them.
And not just referring to his last fight.
Nice to see a new face accusing me for imaginary things.

I like him as a fighter. Good athlete, very well rounded which is rare at LHW these days. Doesn't really have a weakness.

Not the most charming guy, has a bit of a temper but I don't mind that too much in a fighter. Vettori and Chito are the same way. You could call it passion. I see no evidence he's a bad guy.

Yeah, pretty sure he's the largest neckbeard fighter. You'd think he'd get some support from the neckbeard crew since he's their only big guy.

I'm not a fan of him and never really understood the hype.
Ankalaev has this crazy boogeyman hype but has never shown the style behind it outside of his vicious top control (deserves credit for it). His striking is potshots at best and his wrestling is used rarely. I think he's a top LHW but the whole narrative that he'll waste any LHW in front of him usually has me rooting against him.

I kind of like him as a fighter, especially the "well-roundedness" he brings to the table in LHW, and would always watch him fight. I don't really get why he gets so much hate lately. It all seemingly started when he was disappointed with the Jan fight result (totally normal in the heat of the moment) and was misinterpreted in the post fight cage interview (he clearly meant Nevada when he said "I don't know if I will ever fight HERE", as he was unhappy with the judges, but the translator said "in this organization"). He didn't say anything other than that he felt he did enough to win, and was quiet reserved with his emotions. Then he did an illegal knee to Walker and was unhappy the fight didn't continue when he thought it was Walker who refused to fight when he appeared fully ok (again, heat of the moment). Other than that he isn't outspoken at all, and was never spotted doing anything mischievous outside the ring. So I think people are a bit harsh on him..
check out the contrarian nerd

Neutral. His fight IQ is clearly a massive hole in his arsenal. He is probably the best grappler at LHW, which is a bit sad, but it makes me want to see him vs Alex and see how Alex deals with the wrestling.
