While they aren’t legally retarded, they pretty much are retarded. A lot of it isn’t so much how stupid they are. Really it’s more of a psychological thing.

They are almost always people who failed academically. They feel inadequate for doing so. So their defense against that is to believe that everyone else is wrong about shit except them. They have the real inside knowledge on what’s going on. That way they can feel like they’re smarter than everyone.
For others, it furthers their political agenda. For instance, Alex Jones and those types believe Sandy Hook wasn’t real because then they don’t have to think about whether or not they may have been wrong about gun control. They never have to re-evaluate their position regarding anything and that makes them comfortable.

I'm a conspiracy enthusiast. I love reading in-depth about conspiracy theories, but the more I do, the more I realize how fucking idiotic some of these people are. I'll give a few examples and update the thread with more when I have more time to collect some data on the pure low-IQ madness in these circles.

I've read some insane stuff that people seem to believe (in order from the more common to the most absurd):

• Sandy Hook was a hoax. Not a false flag, but a straight up hoax. No one died. This theory is "bolstered" by claims that the school wasn't open at the time. No substantial evidence for this theory. Would require thousands upon thousands of cooperative "actors" to pull off.
• Pulse Nightclub Shooting was a hoax. Not a false flag, but a straight up hoax. No one died. The theory is "bolstered" by the idea that the building didn't have sufficient parking for the number of clubgoers. No substantial evidence for this theory. Would require hundreds of cooperative "actors" to pull off.
• 9/11 wasn't just an inside job. It was the result of a "direct energy weapon" fired from space. Or perhaps the result of miniature nuclear explosions. This theory is bolstered by the fact that first responders developed cancer. No substantial evidence for this theory. Would require thousands of cooperative "actors" to pull off.
• 9/11 was a hoax. Not a false flag, but a straight up hoax. No one died. No one was in the buildings. No planes flew into the buildings. The visuals were CGI overlays during planned controlled demolitions. No substantial evidence for this theory. Would require thousands upon thousands of cooperative "actors" to pull off.
• Flat fucking earth.

I have other things that'll be worth bringing up when I have time to listen to podcasts to pull quotes. Most notably, literally any episode of The Higherside Chats. I'm fairly certain the host purposefully brings the most nutty fucking people on his show to low-key make fun of them.

What's up with Conspiracy Theorists and Satanism? These nutjobs have the unique talent of linking literally any unscrupulous activity with "ritual Satanic sacrifices" and shit. There are plenty of valid lines of inquiry, but throwing some Satan Worshiping into any discussion is a real non-starter.

The brain can play weird tricks on people to help them understand or rationalize ideas they don't understand. Or importantly, don't want to understand.

For me, Religion may be the biggest "Conspiracy" theory in man's history. And you can't claim that only "retarded" people believe in it. History is littered with geniuses who who were also devote believers of religion.

Religion in one form other another is reoccurring theme in history. The question is why? Because people have no idea why we exist in the first place? Why are humans so different than any other animal on planet? Is Death a final end to our existence or is there another place we go? Why did that volcano just destroy entire village?

The point I'm getting is that once an idea is planted in people's brain, be it religion or a conspiracy theory, they'll believe it even if there's a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

I know I'm guilty of it at times. Its tough to convince yourself that everything you thought was true is completely false. It's embarrassing and sometimes soul shattering.

Not retarded, but they've been tricked by the government before, and are too stupid to realize it's half their faults for being so gullible, so they have their dumb, ignorant defenses up in spite of their fuck up. And people felt justified because somehow now they hold the control, when they really are just holding onto their ignorance, and unable to trust anyone.
