WOW! First let me say that I appreciate all the hype! lol

Guys, it's simple. I have been "Practicing BJJ" for over 20 years. I have been in the scene for a long time and have many connections and friends in the BJJ community who can easily confirm my ranking in BJJ.

While I never had a BJJ instructor, I have both trained with and competed in BJJ with some of the best in the world. Although I practiced BJJ all the time, I never claimed to teach BJJ in the past since I did not have an Instructor and I knew that would be fraudulent.

I met Leo Dalla about 8 years ago at this point and have trained with him and his team from time to time. Because of threads like these, I approached Leo Dalla 2 years ago about earning an official rank in BJJ. I didn't pay Dalla a dime for his help. He told me that he believed I was worthy of a 2nd Degree Black Belt and that he would help me get certified through the IBJJF. So with his help, thats what I did.

NOW I claim to teach BJJ because I AM a Certified 2nd Degree BJJ Black Belt under the only REAL BJJ federation there is. I use the word "Certified" on my website because of threads like these. I don't hide anything from anyone. I put my WHOLE story on my website so people will know right away what the deal is.

I am NOT a black Belt in something I never trained in. I have put countless hours of sweat and blood in training BJJ for over 20 years. Just because I didn't have a BJJ instructor doesn't mean I have never trained BJJ.

I know it is a waste of time to try to convince anyone of my experience and ability to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I openly invite anyone to come try my Academy out for free. If you have anything bad or negative to say after doing so I will openly take your criticism. On the flip side, I would appreciate your testimony if you come to train and then realize how foolish this all is. I have no hard feelings toward any of you guys. If you want to come check us out I kindly welcome you. We have a great team and training environment for ANYONE to come train with. I can GUARANTEE that you will have a great experience and different opinion after training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with our team at the Clinch Academy in Frederick Maryland.

we are gonna cut a whole in Chulo's wall and bring him over. About time that kid took his intro lesson. With each lesson Chulo will be talking out of his ass just a little less. The cup is officially half full.

What I don't understand is how did the IBJJF gave a certificate of BB second degrees without ever been a member at BB?

It is important issue, because having a IBJJF certificate 2 degrees means you can sign up your student up to the BB IBJJF certificate or membership (which is cheaper).

Maybe, but he was making very specific claims, that could be substantiated be very specific people, unlike barvo and all the other bjj frauds. If he has BB level skills (which clearly he does, despite his lack of BJJ lineage) i say he's legit. He never lied, he never exaggerated, and as far as the IBJJF is concerned he's legit. It takes a special person to get the BJJ credentials he has with no instructor.

So even though some people may be hesitant b/c his lineage is nonexistent, he clearly has the skills, and knowledge to teach. I say kudos, he earned it as much (if not more so than others) as anyone else. It may be an unusual situation, he's obviously not lacking in skill, or knowledge.

Let me know if you'd like a free hand with your site. I think a free css template would do wonders and would be quick (and doesn't necessarily need to change the content).

Is this your case too ElKarlo? As far as I know, neither of you are BB or have power in BJJ, so why call out people like this? What exactly are you trying to do?

That's why i made this thread. Guy has some real accomplishments in comps. But his site made me really question everything else about him.

There'd probably be less bjj drama if we would assume good faith and keep an open mind. That said, it's harder to assume good faith when you're being prompted to enter your email all over he place and being sold so hard.

Yeah, problem is, if you on good faith go to a gym, and end up getting calls for weeks on end. That sucks, and has happened to friends of mine. Who went to a gym that I recommended. Which turned them off to BJJ, and basically made my word meant poop.

Another reason was, I couldn't find any real reviews of this gym, even on Bullshido. So, there was no word of mouth. Was hoping for some more.

I think you understand where the questions are coming from. It also sounds like you had a pretty unique situation so it's fair to ask us to try to be understanding of that as well.

Do you have a training schedule on your site? If I can find a good time, I'd like to take up your invitation to stop by if that is okay.

Also, it seems like the top video on clinchacademy.com is marked private so it won't play for most users. I just wanted to bring that to your attention in case you meant for it to be public and it got marked differently by accident.

Absolutely, I don't mind questions at all. Public assumption and false statements are another story, however.

That's all you had to do in the first place really and not call him out over the internet. If you dislike or like his marketing technique, that is a personal problem. I bet he has students up the ass, because at the end of the day, opening a BJJ school is all about money and teaching. Nothing else. Instructors have to eat to.

Thanks for coming on the site and clearing things up. I watched your video about your martial arts background and you came across as very genuine and very skilled. I'm sure you can understand why, when people first hear about your background, they may be skeptical. But you are clearly a well-rounded martial artist with impressive stand up and grappling abilities.

I'm curious about one thing, and I hope you won't mind me asking: Why did you go so many years without a BJJ instructor? Were there not any academies in your area?
