Anyone know about this Coach and gym?

Personally I find this situation to be much more interesting than that other thread. There are dozens of jokers like in the other thread. This is about a guy who actually went directly to 2nd degree black belt in the IBJJF. As far as I know, that is a completely unique situation.

Plus this thread is about a much larger BJJ area so it will attract more attention. "Rural fraud of the week" threads are pretty typical. I care a lot more about a guy in my area with legit skills and a unique story than some random joker from the sticks in North Carolina.

So why make a thread about it and not go yourself to the gym and question him like ElKarlo did..oh wait. If you really "care a lot more about a guy in my area with legit skills and a unique story than some random joker from the sticks in North Carolina", you should have never even questioned him here and just pop up yourself with ElKarlo to the gym and told him you didn't like his marketing technique.

No brainer.

Because it's normal to ask about a place before you go?

Fact is ElKarlo is going to drop by the place. When are you dropping by Chulo? It would be fun to meet you.

Unfortunately I live down south, but trust me, I would also love to meet you two. Never in my life have I came across 2 people on the internet that whine so much without power.

You must be a delight in real life.

Dude don't bother cholo isn't one to listen, nor understand

Where do you train down south? Sometimes we travel you know.

If you're ever up north, you can drop by where I train: http://tonypassosbjj.com/

I'm Randy (the lightweight purple belt one -- there is another guy with the same name). I'm there M/W/S usually. I'll come say hi when I see you.

We can roll and see what's up -- no hard feelings. I bet we would even be friends at the end.

I offered him the same thing only I wasn't as nice about my offer as you :)

Make sure you record you guys rolling and post it on here. I'm sure there's a few people on here that would love to see him get tooled, including me :)

I doubt I would ever go up north, but things can change. Maybe when I turn legal age I will start traveling to other states for bigger tournaments IF everything goes good in my BJJ career.

Thanks for the invite though, I'm not that far away from your rank. I'm sure a roll with you will settle everything, because all of this is for BJJ, and not LI or DJ. :icon_lol:Karlo;82459287]Dude don't bother cholo isn't one to listen, nor understand[/QUOTE]
As much of an asshole as I may come to you, I'm capable of understanding. I just have low tolerance for this type of bullshit, and more importantly, your shit.

I didn't realize you were still in high school. Once you graduate and move out, you will probably travel a lot more. Maybe I'll see you at a tournament then.

I don't know where you're at in your BJJ career, but the best piece of advice I could possibly give you would be to go to college full time and do BJJ on the side. It won't hinder your BJJ development very much, and it will give you so many more options than just doing BJJ full time. You can easily switch to full time BJJ after graduating college, but it's a lot harder to go back to college after doing BJJ full time.

In BJJ, you're not a Ronin, you're a creonte.

That said, there's nothing to suggest he hasn't got legit skills.

Don't listen Chulo. Balto is well known for tricking guys into meeting up with him... then they never post again.

You're a high schooler! Well that explains a whole hell of a lot.

Please, please, PLEASE make sure to save what you consider your most persuasive, cogent, logically sound arguments and read them again when you're in your mid-to-late twenties. You're going to have a real laugh at how massive a twat you were way back when.

Until then, focus on school, because you have to be one of the most inattentive, illiterate 'debaters' on this site, and that's saying a LOT. But that's fine, you're still really young and clueless, you have loads of time to figure it out.

Now, back to the issue at hand, Luke, can you provide some insight into how you got certified by the IBJJF as a 2nd degree black belt without formal BJJ training?

gpsarky, i mean silverD, I mean Cholo: i thought you were moving to texas with a friend to train at Draculino's? (after they cut a whole in the wall so you can get out of the house). Don't give up your dream.

Oh man! He's still going through puberty! That does explain a lot. Oh this is hilarious.

Side note, definitely stay in school Chulo and definitely do what Balto said about training while in school. Maybe take some basic reading comprehension classes as well. Good luck.

Lol. Guy is an angry creeper

learning a lot here...

I think Chulo and Balto could become friends one day. I was checking this thread to see how Luke got his second degree from the IBJJF and if there is anybody else who has done such a thing...?

Just got done reading this thread. Interested in hearing about how he got the certification too. So there are guys out there like Joe Moreira, Pedro Carvahlo, Alvaro Barreto who the IBJJF won't recognize because they haven't paid into the system but Luke was able to get certified as a second degree because Leo Dalla one day said he was a second degree? Am I understanding this situation correctly?

What's the use of this certification if loopholes like this can be exploited but old school guys aren't recognized?

Cesar Gracie has had his black belt for 21 years but does not have any stripes on his belt because he refuses to play along with Carlinhos. My coach, Alessandro Ferriera, will get his second degree in a couple of years. Then he can "promote" Cesar to Sixth degree.

I think that he has only the membership card and not the certificate.

Bump, edited my OP. Went to the gym, and had a really good experience.
