Volk is clearly the better fighter. But every day he moves passed 35, he gets a little bit slower, he gets less able to get his chin out of the way of shots like he used too. Shots that land he becomes a little less able to handle the damage. Giving a guy looking to finish as hard as Lopes does more attempts to land the shot on a continuously aging fighter seems like a bit of a losing prospect. Lopes has likely only improved since their last fight, and Volk is pretty much only trying to hang on to as much as of his potency as he can through aging. The amount of improvement he can make in a short period is far lower than what Lopes can as a prime athlete. I hope volk has another turn back the clock performance and wins, because Volk is good people. But i'm not filled with confidence. He had a lot of exchanges with Lopes, and barely dodged getting heavily clipped on a number of occasions last time out. Just feels like the more he exposes himself to the fire of youth, that he's eventually just going to get burnt up by it. Volk would really do himself a service to look for takedowns this time around.
