Meant to respond to this.Did anyone else just play EQ and chill in it a lot without always accomplishing things? I got to max level on two characters but I never did a ton of raids. I honestly got more satisfaction out of helping other players more. I remember going to starting areas with my 65 druid and just buffing lower level characters and it brought a smile on my face to see them get happy about leveling up so much faster without having to spend time resting.
Since games have gotten easier I feel like the communities are worse as a result. No longer do players need to team up. Most players today log in and do dailies then log out. EQ was the only online game I've played where I didn't encounter a ton of trolls. Well there's trolls.... but you know what i mean lol
I would absolutely just log in and hang out back then. Just chill in the Plane of Knowledge, chat with guildies, help with random stuff.
I don't know that stuff like WoW attracts more trolls, it just had so many more players, that trolls were bound to show up. It is just different demographics in the same genre.
I do miss some of the chillness of the game though. Setting up a camp to try and get a certain mob to spawn and then hope it drops your item. I could sit there and do homework between pulls and still feel like I progressed a bit.
