another shooting at ft hood.

Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, etc. aren't allowed to carry firearms when they're at base.

MP's (Military Police) are usually the only ones allowed to carry (sometimes they only have pepper-spray or a baton), and if they are allowed to carry, it's a handgun.

Thanks anti-gunners, making the world a safer place!

We dont carry on base so its clear who the shooter is. not like there is a good way to tell people apart by appearence when they are in uniform. " he is in camo with a gun" is a pretty shit description if everyone has a gun and wears camo.

Makes sense. You want to identify the person who's about to kill you.

Its for the security team so they arent wasting their time with every person. The trained response people are the ones you want in that situation, not every single person on base. emergencies are enough of a clusterfuck already without every idiot who thinks hes rambo shooting at each other

Right. Better to be a sitting duck.

What's up with that particular base? Just coincidence or "monkey see, monkey do"?

its better to go inside and wait for the security team. Like the regulations for security lockdown on bases say to do. How would you even identify a target if everyone has a gun?

Sad to hear this happen at Ft. Hood. I've spent a lot of time there and will be headed down there again next month.

I do contract work for the military and have been to pretty much all major bases and there are some bases where the MP's at the gates have some pretty serious assault rifles.

"Great Place", my ass.

Third incident in five years. I'm being unfair though. Every single one of them, Hasan to Abdo to this dude, have all traveled to Hood. Hasan's actions have made the place some kinda weird, fucked up, mecca for extremist violent action.

I'm just relieved my brothers over at the Field Office there are safe. Shit happened close to them though, like three blocks away.

I think gun free zones makes sense on bases.

If an incident like this happened I can see many people shooting people they think was the shooter.

Hopefully he said Allah Abkbar before opening fire so we can be certain this was only a case of workplace violence.

That literally has NEVER happened before Clinton made all US bases gun-free zones. In 200+ fucking years, not a single individual out of a hundred million US military personnel.. not one situation has ever come up where people were shooting at each other in confusion from a mass shooter.

People are more intelligent and perceptive than you think. Since they made Arizona a constitutional carry state, where ANYONE that's not a felon over the age of 21 can carry a weapon concealed. No paperwork, no background check, etc.. they also said blood would be covered in the streets. Mass shootings. Road rage turns into shootouts. Neighbors killing neighbors. None of that happened. Crime rates actually plummeted.

Clinton was looking for a solution for a problem that DID NOT EXIST.

If everyone having a gun makes identifying the shooter much harder, wouldn't the shooter just have to 'throw away his gun' and then all the sudden he blends in again? I think I'd rather have a gun, and be surrounded by people who do have guns, against a guy who opens fire... you know... sort of like a real situation that these guys are trained for?

I'll ask you this question, do you take your gun to work? Should you be allowed to be armed whilst at work in your opinion?
