another shooting at ft hood.

Blame the media more than anyone as they give these incidents weeks of coverage.

Its for the security team so they arent wasting their time with every person. The trained response people are the ones you want in that situation, not every single person on base. emergencies are enough of a clusterfuck already without every idiot who thinks hes rambo shooting at each other

I can't help but laugh at the stupidity of some fucking mp thinking he is highly trained at a base with combat infantrymen.

just don't blame me.
I'm armed wherever I go.
and I promise not to shoot you
unless you legitimately threaten my life.
good day.

I'll ask you this question, do you take your TOOLS to work? Should you be allowed to be PROPERLY EQUIPPED at work in your opinion?

When showing up to work a mechanic brings their wrench, a school teacher their books, and a soldier their gun.

That literally has NEVER happened before Clinton made all US bases gun-free zones. In 200+ fucking years, not a single individual out of a hundred million US military personnel.. not one situation has ever come up where people were shooting at each other in confusion from a mass shooter.

People are more intelligent and perceptive than you think. Since they made Arizona a constitutional carry state, where ANYONE that's not a felon over the age of 21 can carry a weapon concealed. No paperwork, no background check, etc.. they also said blood would be covered in the streets. Mass shootings. Road rage turns into shootouts. Neighbors killing neighbors. None of that happened. Crime rates actually plummeted.

Clinton was looking for a solution for a problem that DID NOT EXIST.

How many people got shot on base before that ruling and then after?

Everyone being armed would cut down on the abilities of mass shooters, but I feel it would increase the prevelance of shootings.

Do you have that info on Arizona either?

Well gee I wounder how in the world the shooter or shooters were finally stopped.

You have trained personal that should be able to defend themselves.

So you think someone couldn't just purchase a firearm off base, bring it with them onto base and start a shooting...like the last 2?

False analogy. The soldier does not own their gun, their employer does.

And the gear they are issued they are responsible for, they don't just hand out any weapon to anyone in random order they are assigned.

Yes I am aware of that, but they don't own said gear do they? It isn't as though they get to take it home with them once they are discharged.

I just don't understand why everyone is whining about politicians. People are dead and tragically so and everyone runs and turns this into a blame Clinton or blame Obama or Bush or whoever for banning weapons in what is for all purposes a workplace, albeit a very different workplace. Not everything needs to be political. There is only one person at fault here from my perspective and that is the shooter. He just happened to kill people on a military base.

I'm not sure that ordinary soldiers are trained to fight in fragile situations such as this, but a base full of armed riflemen would probably be a greater deterrent than a base full of unarmed riflemen.

The political comments that always happen so soon after a tragedy are despicable. There are some in here already. Disgusting.

I'm not getting into who is to blame for them being unable to defend themselves but that situation should be changed.

The school teacher doesn't own his/her text books either. They are employer issued.
The Mechanic who works for a chain, doesn't buy his own wrench. Wrenches are employer issued.

So again, why are these employees always with their employer issued tools, and the soldiers aren't?

Every Soldier being armed doesn't even fucking make sense. What, they all carry their M4 around for 8 hours a day and then turn it in to the arms room at 1700? What, every Soldier carries, regardless of MOS, considering the vast majority are the "soft" MOSs, and considering then only your PMO MPs are trained for active shooter scenarios? I shudder to think of every clueless Joe rocking a rifle or 9mil in case some shit goes down. Gonna catch a cap in my ass by some fuckin crypto analyst who fires at the range twice a year if he's lucky. Fuck outta here.

Yeah, they shouldn't mention names in these stories. The quickest way to fame nowadays is killing a bunch of people or taping yourself blowing a celebrity. I never thought I'd say it, but I wish more people would do the latter.

Come on, you know that is not what I think, because we have discussing an incident where that is what happened.

I am suggesting that in no small amount of murders if no one had a gun no one would be getting shot.

Most recent well published examples are the Ex-Cop who shot a guy for throwing pop corn, and the guy who shoot a teenager over loud music. I think the idea that either of these guys would have gone away, got a weapon and then come back and killed the guy in revenge to be illogical.
