News Ankalaev vs krylov.

The fight was reasonably close, tied 1-1 going into the third round (on 2 judges scorecards) and Krylov and Walker both were gassed by the start of the third round.

Krylov was dominant in the first round but he lost the second and barely eeked out a decision in the third, fight could have easily gone the other way if Walker had put in a late flurry or combo.

#15 is usually a placeholder spot. Most recently OSP was #15 (as a placeholder, as he did not win to be ranked #15, since Blachowicz becoming champion moved him out of the rankings and opened up another spot).

OSP lost to Jamahal Hill who then became #15 and OSP fell out of the rankings. So I would say Ankalaev should be unranked, just like every single opponent he has beaten, and OSP as the most recent guy to fall out of the rankings should be #15 for now.

Ankalaev is fighting Krylov, so if he wins that fight based on the most recent rankings he would ascend to #8. But if he loses that fight you are going to have a clear situation where #11 or if he falls a spot due the loss #12 has gotten to a spot that is still pole position for contendership by beating the worst fighters the division has to offer.

Also remember even though he lost to Paul Craig he dominated him all but 15 second off the fight. I believe you have to take that into consideration. It wasn’t like they gave him a number because off that but with 5 straight wins and a almost perfect dominant performance against the number 14 rank fighter should put him ahead.

So the way your saying you wouldn’t rank Ryan Spann or Jim Curte #13 and #12 since they haven’t beat a rank opponent also then right? LHC division is not the same as LW or WW a long win streak or overall record comes into play.
Spann 4-1 with a good performance against the number #9 rank Walker
Curte 4-1 with a good showing against the #10 Cirkunov.

I said Ankalaev should not be ranked because he has not fought a ranked opponent after nearly three years and six fights on the UFC LHW roster.

The combined record in the UFC of his opponents thus far is 12-16-1.

I said nothing regarding Spann, Crute, or Craig.

But what you said about Spann & Craig is not accurate. Both became ranked after beating ranked opponents. Crute did not beat a ranked opponent to become ranked, but he did fight a ranked opponent in his third UFC fight.
