Khalil Rountree (a bum compared to Ank) touched him up and lasted 4 rounds. If all that happened, then Ank definitely has a chance at beating Pereira in striking. Of course wrestling would be the smartest move, but it’s absurd to say he has “no shot” in stand up. He needs to incorporate feints and level changes into his striking in order to hurt pereira on the feet. But the longer he stays there, the longer that boxing lead leg heavy stance will get chewed up.

Jiri has a strong claim at being the second best in the division. I rooted for him in both Alex fights (and will in a third) but he had absolutely nothing for him in the rematch.
There's absolutely no reason to believe that Khalil is a bum compared to Ank. Ank's best performance in years was against the ghost of what's left of Walker's chin and he still looked like shit doing it.
Khalil on the other hand has looked great lately against similar competition.

Could he beat Alex? Yeah. He's a competent striker and will likely have the threat of a takedown on his side. Doesn't mean we should bank on it.

You can say that Pereira is favored in the stand up and I wouldn’t disagree, but to say Ank has “no shot” is absurd. Jiri was hitting Alex CLEAN in their first fight and had him hurt several times, Ank is not as powerful as Jiri but he’s faster and has better eyes. Make no mistake, he CAN hurt Pereira on the feet and possibly even KO him. Alex doesn’t have an iron chin. Another thing to consider is that Alex will be worried about take downs so his striking defense won’t be as sharp and also compromises Alex’s kicking game somewhat.
