Television Amazon Prime to add commercials

What benefits does prime actually have to make it so coveted? It's only 2 euro a month th and I use it for gaming and streaming but never bothered using it for amazon.
If you buy from Amazon a bunch it saves a ton on shipping costs.

I'm not married to watching the same things over and over but the second a Blu-ray is released, it's available to download. You can have every version you want on a drive for pennies, the rips are getting smaller and smaller.

Sucks to have terrible internet in 2023, I couldn't go back to that.
If I can buy the physical media and get a digital copy as well I'll do that to have the disc to add to my collection. I'll probably never play the disc, but will watch the digital version whenever I want.

I rarely do because I don't think the price and shipping justifies not just walking to the shop instead of having to wait 3 weeks.

Its funny watching the cycle of things evolving right back into the things they were supposed to replace.

It's funny how people forgot that advertising is the only mechanism for broadcast revenue and that subscription plans were just a visual workaround to the idea! It was all a nonsensical model and now you'll see the return back, just as you've noted.

Not sure where you're at, but the majority of the orders we place arrive the next day if we select that option but usually within 2-3 days at most.

This is number one bullshit!

It seems everything is reverting back to how regular cable or DirecTv or whatever cable network you had ten years ago. Not every aspect but it’s getting there. Including getting most platforms, you’ll end up paying what you did for your old cable package. Right back to square one

It's capitalism.

What we want is irrelevant, all that matters is what we'll pay for.

I want Prime for their goods and the videos were just gravy. I'll probably pay the three bucks a month even though I rarely use that service.

Does Bezos really need another yacht? What an asshole guys.

With the rise of plex, pluto, freevee and tubi it is making less sense to pay 16.53 a month for amazon it is at the price point now where the prime shipping benefit is almost no longer worth it. I only have hbo max because I got the black friday deal for 2.99 for 6 months I re subscribed after a year unsubscribed due to their price hikes. These add supported streaming services should be at the maximum .99 cents a month not 10+dollars.

I cord cut when It got to 200 dollars a month I would pay for cable this seems to be the way streaming is going.

"Those who want to keep Amazon Prime Video ad-free can still do so — for an additional $2.99 per month in the U.S. on top of the annual subscription to Amazon’s overall Prime service."

cancelled
The insult to injury is this basically admits they can keep it ad free if they wanted to but just charge you an arbitrary 2.99 for it now on top of the 14.99 a month you pay so 17.98. that's a 100% increase from when I started using prime not many years ago.

These fuckers are trying to go right back to the cable model now that they've got everyone hooked on streaming. And it had such promise.

This is a disturbing precedent because advertisers can tell show runners what to do. so streaming will become censored and family friendly in the future like network tv and youtube.
I love how HBO was known during the cable days for its adult content but literally none of it is on their streaming service.
