Huh.I don't know what that means. Generally speaking, people don't pretend to like things they don't actually like. Unless they're trolling.
An exception is movies that are in some way super political..
I thought we were taking about movies? There's nothing that says someone "shouldn't" like a movie. People can like whatever they want.Huh.
People justify their likes/decisions when they know they shouldnt. Paying too much for a car, but saying it's worth it. Fucking an ugly woman, but saying she sucks mean dick.
Or saying Romulus is decent cuz of love for Alien/Aliens.
The epitome of Rose Colored Glasses.
Who knows about large amounts, but I wanted to love Tron Legacy, but despite its qualities, it's not as special as I wanted it to be or thought I'd grow into.I thought we were taking about movies? There's nothing that says someone "shouldn't" like a movie. People can like whatever they want.
At the end of the day, since its all internalized, there's no way to really even argue whether someone is being genuine about their opinion or not. Sometimes they might be biased in favor of something, sure. But the idea that large amounts of people "fake" liking a movie is kinda silly.

newsflash: people can like something while still being critical of certain elementsFor me, I don't go into movies wanting to hate them. If it's a movie I am antagonistic to from the get-go, I simply won't see it and won't review it. But if I do see it and it's shit, it's shit. I'm not going to only look at the positive side and pretend that makes the whole thing ok. It doesn't make sense to overlook all the dumb and disappointing shit and only focus on the good stuff like a majority of the internet "ZOMG!!! Amazing!!!".
Yeah, Alien and Aliens are basically untouchable. Or so I thought. Alien Isolation has been the one thing that has legitimately lived up to their high bar and genuinely surprised the shit out of me. I didn't go into it thinking I was gonna love it. I went into it thinking it was going to be a letdown. But the game won me over, big time, on its own merits. Point is, that goes for everything. If the thing in question is genuinely good, then there's no reason not to enjoy it.
Yeah, this 100%. I enjoyed Romulus but theres some big flaws. But, I mean, thats ok. Because I thought the things that were good about it were good enough to overlook them. Although that last 20 minutes really made it a photo finish.newsflash: people can like something while still being critical of certain elements

This video sums it up perfectly:
Dark Descent, despite its flaws, is criminally overlooked IMO. It's a dark horse, I was pleasantly surprised how good it is despite the rough edges and I'll probably beat it again. I haven't enjoyed an alien(s) game that much sense AVP1 & 2, in some ways it's much cooler and more interesting than those (story is a little meh in places but overall solid). Not sure how much of a gamer you are, but Aliens: Dark Descent is surprisingly good. Its low budget and has rough edges, but it absolutely nails that feeling of blips closing in and you dont have enough time to prepare for it. Its certainly not a gold standard game like Isolation, but its comparable to Isolation in how it nails the feeling of aliens like Isolation captured the original. Still, its a game and it doesnt transcend to the level of Isolation where I pretty much consider it canon.
Yeah, its pretty low budget but the highs are far better than the lows. I think it was fairly successful, so itd be nice to see a sequel with an actual budget behind it.Dark Descent, despite its flaws, is criminally overlooked IMO. Plus it basically invented its own genre which I think is great. I've not played anything quite like it before and I think it works perfectly for a squad based game with Colonial Marines.Yeah, its pretty low budget but the highs are far better than the lows. Right. Initially I didnt know what to make of the RT combat but the slow time/command points is pretty awesome. Really nails the "Theyre closing in" feeling that cant really be duplicated by pure turn based. I wish you could give at least some orders to each solider independent, like placement, and there should be some kind of mechanic to allow for closing at least a certain number of the alien spawn points. Still, overall it's impressive for a low budget title.Plus it basically invented its own genre which I think is great. Sometimes I can understand a lot of the criticisms. Sometimes it’s just nitpicking as "Not the same".
Heres a perfect example. They dont like the gestation period of the face hugger to birth. And they bring up the chick in the wall in Aliens and say "Hey, shes been there for awhile!".
But heres the thing. Kanes period wasnt very long once he woke up to having the thing burst out of him. Maybe it wasnt 5 minutes, but it also didnt seem like 5 hours either.
Meanwhile, this chick had to have been on that wall for DAYS or close to it (remember, Newt has been there alone for longer than 17 days), and they dont complain that "Hey! How come the gestation took so much longer in Aliens than in Alien?". They even say "The frist movie to fuck with this stuff is AvP", and its like, no, dude. Aliens fucked with it. But they dont complain that.
And the thing is, its pretty easy to chalk it up to "It doesnt always happen in the same amount of time". Maybe getting pumped full of adrenaline can increase the efficiency of the growth cycle. But who cares? Its the kind of thing you do when you're just looking to spot differences rather than accept possibilities.
Yeah, that line was really stupid and cringe. I dont understand how that relates to what I said, though. I didnt say the movie wasnt deserving of criticism, I've said the opposite numerous times. Now do “Get away from her you bitch” A callback line that wait for doesn’t happen for another 30 something years. Are the morons who made this movie really that stupid? Yes, yes they are. Its the cringiest stupidest thing that’s ever happened in the franchise maybe besides the terrible “Ian Holm” impersonation as Rook. Oh wait same movie.

Yeah, it could have taken awhile for the hugger to come off, but the burster came out pretty quick once off.Kane waking up to chestburster may not have been 5 hours, but facehugger dropping off to chestburster definitely could have been.
If you consider the entire life cycle of the first film, from initial facehugger attachment to full grown alien making it's first appearance, the passage of time is many, many hours. I wouldn't at all be surprised if it was 18 hours or more. Romulus that entire process is minutes.
As for the scene in Aliens, that doesn't tell us anything about the gestation period of the alien in that film, because we don't know when the colonist met her facehugger.
yeah no shit, you’re just the only ones whining about the oppositeAnd people can dislike something and be critical of certain elements.
