If Alex is focused he won't lose. I question if he's focused. Ank doesn't have the greatest striking. He hits hard but it's not tight he throws mostly looping shots for his power sta ding his only hope is to Catch him in a flurry then fly to the ground with him an get a choke .

I'm sure he can get Pereria down maybe keep him there for a rd but doesn't have or hasn't shown the ground offense to finish ot even do real damage . Anks gas tank isn't Khaz/Conor bad but it's not an asset an he slows adter a rd grappling. Pereria has crazy cardio an keeps his power.

Alas whole I would bet on Pereria if forced it feels like a Ank win as Pereria focus doesn't seem there and Ank os as hungry as any fighter could be. I think Pereria win the rematch but got a bunch he loses this fight

You know what, you're right, that should be quite something. Both men as well as fans have been waiting for this one for a while now. I'm hoping it turns out to be a great fight, but for some reason I can picture it ending in some sort of controversial manner (i.e., injury or early stoppage).

I dunno about you but I was WAY more hype for jiri Vs Alex 1 for the belt when it was announced. Jiris aura (especially at that time) is 10x that of magomed imo

I was super hyped for Jiri vs Alex too, because, as you said, the auras on those two characters is just out of this world. That staredown they had was about as insane as Crocop and Wand in their first fight.

But besides aura, it was kind of clear that Alex's technical striking would likely give him the upper hand, and that Jiri's kamikaze style of unleashing absolute chaos was a risky affair - he usually gets rocked in his fights despite ending up winning, a thing that one can rarely afford against the uncompromising power of Pereira - in that specific matchup.

The reign of Alex Pereira at LHW seems like it can be explained at least partly by the current state of the division and, perhaps, like it could not have been a few years ago with capable wrestlers sitting atop the LHW mountain - Jones, DC, Rumble...even Gus' grappling was quite solid...one can't help but even wonder if Alex Pereira could have gone through guys like Patrick Cummins and Phil Davis to climb that mountain at all and get a title opportunity.

All that to say, wrestling is the remaining X factor here, and Ankalaev is pretty much the last guy at the top of the 205 division with that tool properly sharpened in his toolkit. We could end up not seeing any of it at all - I'm hopeful that's not gonna be the case - but it is something for Alex to consider that he did not have to worry about in previous matchups.

It's long been time for Alex to fight a capable wrestler, and Ankalaev will be that guy. That alone makes his chances better than Jiri's, so in that sense, I feel like this is a more interesting matchup.

Yeah, that’s certain’y true. We could end up not having an answer to that question. But at least if the gets the W, Alex would have a legit win over a capable wrestler, which is the feather that’s missing to his cap.

Make no mistake about it, I think this is a more intriguing matchup than Jiri solely with regard to the outcome and in light of Alex’s current resume, not the level of excitement that the fight is likely to provide.
