after years of watching ufc

If there was a thread to sum up the worst of Sherdog, this might be it.

Good thing your youporn instinct didn't kick in

Are we really fighting about this??? Yes USA is fat, but also has best athletes...where y u from. I'm sure I can come up with something from your country.

I'm from the great white north, aka greatest nation ever created, aka hot up in the 6, aka home of the greatest rapper in history, drake

Watching MMA has definitely improved my ability to fight. Ask the bitches trying to talk shit in my yoga class.

I learnt enough BJJ techniques from hours of YouTube clips to be able to tap everyone that ever grappled with me with ease (they don't train). Obviously, that is no accomplishment by any stretch of the imagination, but there's something to be said for learning by observation. You can definitely gain the upper hand on someone that doesn't know what they're doing by learning from what you see in these clips.

Toasting in a roll bread, but before I ever trained I actually did learn some basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just by watching tons of MMA, enough to actually be really effective against other noobs in rolling.

I was there TS, I saw what happened, you forgot to tell them about how you did the pettis-kick using another players instead of the cage.

So it used to be "I train UFC" and now it's just "I watch UFC." Got it.

TS, you deserve to be ridiculed for this. ....But so do I as I'm about to join in with you. I'm 40 years old and never trained in my life. My 20 and 23 year old nephews recently decided they were going to give me the "old man" treatment and try to rough me up a bit (they know nothing about MMA but they wrestled in an elite HS program). I subbed both of them multiple times in immediate succession (guillotine, RNC, arm-bar, and an arm-bar that transitioned to a reverse triangle.) It's not that I'm any good at BJJ (never went to a single class) but I've watched these moves for two decades and apparently that's good enough against someone who has no idea they're coming.

After years of watching the UFC I am starting to look like Roy Nelson.

I feel as tho I can emulate fighters movements, footwork, and striking technique.

Now hear me out, you might think its a joke, but. I'm a big fight fan & have been watching boxing since 95 as a kid, then ufc around the time 2005 ish.

After watching thousands of fights, I find that my punching technique is really on point. The other day, I got in a scrap with this idiot at the basketball court after I fouled him from preventing a game winning layup, he thought I was trying to hurt him & made a dramatic scene, which I responded by saying "don't be soft pussy" (emotions are high during games)

So he came at me after trying to swing, immediately, my ufc instinct kicked in. It was all about survival mode since that kid had his fist up, and started swinging at me. I managed to avoid his first few strikes by head movement, but did get caught with one, not flush, but grazed because i rolled with the punch. After that, I fainted a lot to see how he reacted to my faint jabs, then i timed him, jabbed him, followed a overhand right. Boom, it was over !

If your somewhat athletic & practise techniques, you can do some serious damage.

Watching a lot of fights is a very smart way to learn.

Of course you need to practice too. With other people and alone. I think it's very important to work on your fighting skills alone a lot, because you can practice when you feel like it and can practice immediately without having to go to the gym or call a training buddy. I love training by myself because I can really go hard and think things trough. So when I spar and grapple I always kick as*:) I can't allow myself to lose, so I can't let someone beat me in training:) It takes a lot of home work to stay ahead of others.

I think that those who will not believe you that you learned MMA from watching fights are crazy.
