Magic

The bodyfat is just for my own satisfaction, Long term goal of around 12% on a pinch test. The cosmetic aspect is appealling as well but not a priority. Most of the guys I'm in the gym with are below 10% on a bad day so p4p I want to be in that range. Also there is always the posiblitly of a JJ tourny or boxing match in my future(i never know what I'm going to do)

Also all girls in my log are at least 18 years of age regardless of how young they look. (at least in my mind they are and thats good enough)

Due to bench yesterday there was only limited pressing today(just enough to ensure blood flow) the deads went well and felt strong, I think I left a higher single or two out there but set a goal of 325 and called it done when I hit it. 325 came off the floor like a rocket and the lock out was strong too. I am happy with that lift.

The DB Cleans were high and strong, I fought the catch on the left side of the 80s pretty hard. This is probably my limit right now. I am happy with this for the moment

Thanks to the repeated gifts of ass. The motiviation it provides is incrediable.

So, I hear this is the log with no minimum age limit...

This is an excellent example of girls who although they may appear to be 16 years old that are in reality at least 18(otherwise they would not appear in my log)

In other happenings, when I went to the gym the other day I was greeted with several of the bars being covered in a strange white powder, since cocaine is best snorted off a strippers ass I can only assume it was the mysical chalk I have heard so much about.

WHen I touched it I indeed did feel more manly. Would chalk be a potentail solution for the ouchyness I experience during my cleans or is it scrictly for gripyness

My experience shows that chalk has totally stopped the skin from ripping off my skin during heavy deads. It works great for both pain, and grip. Get it now if you do cleans alot!

The pressure on the callouses is what is hurting to distraction. I may have to pick some up. Sure I can find some rock climbing chalk in columbia they have a outdoor store that handles climbing gear.

I bought a pound of it about 5 months back, haven't even used 1/4 of it yet...

Based on a suggestion from Whitelighting and careful research behind the concept(I flipped a coin) I will be now doing most assistance in the 8-10 rep range. THis will begin on my next lift day which could be as early as tommorrow or as late as Tues.

JJ was cancelled today, which was nice expect I didn't find out til I was already up. But at least I hadn't gotten out of bed yet.

I browsed through your log and saw you were not satisfied with your power, especially re: power cleans. I was wondering if you have you ever tried preceding your PC's with some heavy and/or explosive lifts/movements incorporating some PC similar movements (shrugs, squats, box jumps, etc.) followed up with a lengthy rest period. Some thing like:

  • Heavy Shrugs or Power Shrugs X 2-5 reps
  • 3-5 minutes rest
  • Heavy Squat or Box Jumps X 2-5 reps
  • 3-5 minutes rest
  • Power Cleans
  • Repeat cycle 2-8 times
If not, give it a try and let me know what you think. I'd be willing to bet you feel more powerful as the sets progress and set a PC PR by the end of the workout.

Sounds like it makes sense, I'll give it a shot sometime

Right now I'm adding 5lbs to my max every other work out. But if I can make better progress all the better. The movement is realitively new for me but I think its coming around

Going in today I knew I wasn't 100% yet from Friday's work out so I just did assistance movements. I'm off my schedule with week due to a meeting so if I didn't do something today I won't be back til Weds.

The cleans where solid today, the 145 was slow and sloppy but the 155 went up quick and clean. May have had 5 or 10 more lbs in me but had set a goal of 155 and hit it so I called it good. I think by taking small bites out of my PRs of even 5 lbs I can build confiendce on the lift while making progress. I tried to focus on getting under the weight more instead of just pulling it up high enough to sorta walk under. The presses were gravy.

I had no aborted set ups today and the 155 is over 3/4 of my bodyweight so I'm happy about that too.

I wasn't planning on the rack pulls at all, but my buddy came in and I did them with him through his warm up.(he ended up somewhere near 600) I called it at the 420 which was smooth and easy.

I think if may help my catch on cleans if I get someone to stand behind me in case I fall backwards so they could put a hand out.

youre afraid of tipping over backwards during the cleans?

i assume your scheme is reps x sets? must be getting some horseshoe tries with those dips

i mean i dont see any one arm clean and presses, so idk if this latest workout warrants ass galore...

The last one is a winner, my hands are just wrecked right now, so I gave up the one handed cleans for this work out only.

I've always had decent tris but there not shapely or huge. I carry no size what so ever in my arms or legs, I'm thick from waist up and I feel my back is solid looking(altough weak).

THe falling backwards thing is new today. There were several reps where I caught the weight and just felt like I was going to topple backwards. Thoughts of Million Dollar baby flashed through my head. Prob just need more reps at that weight to get more comfortable with it. May even throw some lunges and more overhead squats at the problem as well, won't hurt when I start doing jerks when I get around to it anyway.

This.

Good going. Heavy rack pulls, walk-outs, and standups, all will get you past the mental block of "this is 400 pounds" or "500 pounds is a LOT". Soon you'll be rack-pulling 700 and saying "500 pounds ain't shit!"
I catch grief for my heavy shrugs, but they accustomed me to moving these weights.

Yes the pics here provide great motivation. I just want to become stronger than her girlfriend

Yea I think your right on this. I knew he would be working out of my comfort zone(wieght I know I can hit) but I wanted to feel the weight. After rack pulling that I feel a whole lot more confiendent that the 405 is close. I can't image me having trouble with it in a month or two. He even committed on how easy it looked for me considering I've never done that much before. He jumped to over 500 after that and I went and did dips.

MMA/JJ

Started off well for about 3 rounds felt quick and strong, then pinched a nerve in my neck I think and spent the rest of the night being defensive. Didnt' get caught by anything but had no offense after the 4th round. Didn't realize how much I use head pressure in my game but its alot.

I took Newt's advice and tried box jumps inbetween my cleans sets. Box jumps are not sock feet compatable and I stopped after the second set. Will try to wear shoes next time. Realized I do not like the boxes at the gym as they are wider on the bottom then top by a considerable margain. I see how the jumps could assist in the cleans however.

I also did something dif during my cleans. I rode the weight down to a full clean postion before coming back up. I tend to catch high with these weights so I made my typical catch but just kept dropping til I hit bottomish. Figured it may help me have confiendce in being able to handle the wieghts from a lower postion.

THe deads were suppose to be 7 singles starting at 295 and ending at 335. However I got to talking and for some reason loaded 345 on the bar and had done the pull before I realized that I wasn't doing 225. Not sure how I ended up thinkiing a nickel and a dime plus three plates equalled 325 but who cares. THe pull was fine off the ground but it pulled me forward a hair just below my knees. I sunk my heels in and fought up past my knees to an easy lock out. Heck I even took a moment to admire the bend in the bar in the mirror. WHich is when I realized I misloaded it. I think I was loose in my set up and let my shoulders come forward at the moment of the pull is why I went forward. The two 315s after felt tight but hard.

In other news, I recieved my much awaited hog half the other day. I need suggestions on what to do with "cured hocks" I seem to have several packages. I know I could do hocks and beans but there has to be other things I can do with them. I also learned the pig won some local fair and it was named Bubbles. Bubbles tastes wonderful I had chops yesterday. I'm happy the money I paid is probably being used to pay some kids college.(feels postive the Karma)
