hilarious - i wouldn't know where to begin with literally half of any animal. except a fowl i guess...

If you have the freezer space its the way to go for economy reasons alone. I paid $120 for a shit load of meat, there are a few cuts I'm not sure of like the hocks but I have ham steaks, lion, chops, steaks, bacon, and burger along with a bunch of other stuff. The packages filled a 48 quart cooler and two shopping bags. I don't know the total weight cause I forgot to ask but I'm guessing near 70lbs. So under $2 a lb.

I try to get a 1/2 pig every year and sometimes get a quater or half a beef. A buddy keeps tyring to talk me into a half of a long horn. But I can get free range from a neighbor so why spend the money on long horn. Thought about a quater bison last year but the price wasn't so hot.

Donkey Calf raises are fine as long as your rider is both female and hot.

THe deads were suppose to be 7 singles starting at 295 and ending at 335. However I got to talking and for some reason loaded 345 on the bar and had done the pull before I realized that I wasn't doing 225. Not sure how I ended up thinkiing a nickel and a dime plus three plates equalled 325 but who cares. THe pull was fine off the ground but it pulled me forward a hair just below my knees. I sunk my heels in and fought up past my knees to an easy lock out. Heck I even took a moment to admire the bend in the bar in the mirror. WHich is when I realized I misloaded it. I think I was loose in my set up and let my shoulders come forward at the moment of the pull is why I went forward. The two 315s after felt tight but hard.

Fuck yes!!!

405 by years end.

That right now is the goal still. I think its more than doable. I need to get some form work in still but the lift is moving finally at a rate I'm happier with it than a month ago.

I do have a line on a form coach, former D1 football player with a powerlifting background. best part is its going to be free, he's a friend of mine's bother who loves coaching just doesn't have much time. haven't worked out time between both our schedules. but I can't help but think I've got 30 more lbs in form and at least 20 more in power over what I did today. We'll see

Because for some reason there has been a shortage of motivation around here recently

Yes I couldn't even come up with words to describe kelly. No matter what I type its just not enough to express how she would feel about me should she meet me

By far the heaviest triples I have ever done. All but the last set were light feeling. The cleans continue to improve and I seem to be catching in a lower postion now. The deficits were just for fun and the rack pulls went smoothly from just below a standing knee positon.

No pain in my elbow from the bench so next time 10 more pounds.

I do have a question regarding rack pulls for any deadlifters out there. Would there be any merit to taking a weight I can't yet pull(let's use 385) and over the course of several workouts move it down a notch on the rack each time for a few reps til I met my ability to break it from teh ground.

Absolutely. That's a concept that was pioneered by Paul Anderson, and it's referred to as Progressive Movement Training. He used it for squats and deadlifts. The idea was to choose your goal weight for the full ROM. I believe the standard is about 110-115% of your max (don't quote me on that part). Start with rack pulls of just a couple inches at that weight for a few high rep sets. Week by week, lower the pins, and lower the reps. At the end of maybe 6 weeks or a couple months, you attempt a single from the ground. I'll try to dig up the dragondoor article on it.

Edit: Here it is - An Excerpt from Beyond Bodybuilding: A Strength Training and Powerlifting article from Dragon Door Publications

I might just try this with my squat if my current program doesn't start to look up after my next deload.

Absolutely.

But keep at the heavy singles and triples. Don't DL more than once a week. Next time try going 225-275-315 and see if you have more ooomph at the higher weights. I don't think you need reps at 295 and 305.

Good Pulling!!

WL and Hunto

Thank you, I think I'll look into doing it, not sure where I need to go with the weight on it though. I'm leaning towards 385 which is 40lbs heavier(115%ish) or my current 345 single. Or should I go with 110% of my estimated 1 rep with would be closer to 400.

I also believe I will be cutting back my DL to once a week or at least to when I have 3 days rest between sessions. I am able to squat again with minimal/no discomforted at parrell so I will be bouncing between them.

Hunto

THe extra 295 and 315 sets were just sort of feeling out process, i'm gong to start using larger jumps between sets on my bottom ends when possible.

I will also be splitting my bb and db cleans/press into seperate sessions from now on unless I'm just feeling froggy.

I tried to get in on one days rest so I ditched the deads and thought I'd try to find out where I am on squats(last heavy squats late june). So I warmed up with some DB Cleans/press. They felt good enough I though I would try a one rep clean and missed the 160 on the catch. Was plenty high, I just didn't get all the way under. Oh well

On to squats. All the sets were done to 16" box. I felt good up to 295 where I found myself fishing for the box on the first rep. The second was better. I figured 315 would be a good number and gave it a shot. I didn't feel good through out the rep and was fishing on the bottom since its not a natural motion right now(I wanted to be sure to hit the box). I felt loose and tired through out but pushed on through. My lower body and back felt fried and I maybe should of stopped there. But I wanted a few more singles and bailed on the next before calling it quits. The last one I was even more loose.

I was so fried I couldn't clean the 135 back up.

I just knocked out some assistance lifts and called it quits. Not a terrible day.

Thanks

Before the groin pull I had been workign sets in the 275 range so I wasn't sure about it. I think I've got alot more in me once I get comfortable with the lift again. Today just felt akward. 3 plates does feel good though. Now at least I have one lift that is almost manly

I was just looking at my goals off my first page and realized that I am now a 900lb lifter(a long term goal). With actual 1 reps of 345dl, 315 squat and 245 bench, I ended up with a total of 905. I'm stoked about this.

I know I have another 20lbs in my bench over the next month now that I'm benching again, and can't help but think I have 40 or more to gain on my deads in that time given a perfect day when I 1 rep it. My squat I'm not sure about but there is a little in there to I would have to think. SO I'm closing in on 1000lbs.

I saw another goal that I've met. bodyfat % is now below 15%.

I still have a 275 bench and a 405 dead on the table and the 100dbx3 press to do. But I think it may be time to set some more goals. Anyone have a resonable idea for a few. I would like a clean goal(current 155) and I know I want to clean and press a 100lb db on top of that. And a 1000lb total of course

I would like to develop some short term(by years end) and some longer term goals Mid-summer next year.
