I believe Green was generally considered the fastest player in the NFL at the time and he beat Walker in another competition. I guess it comes down to whoever is having a better day and gets off to a better start, etc. I know sprinting is very technical at the highest level, and both of them were pretty close to Olympic level sprinters at the time.Thoughts:
1. How is Darrel Green the fastest man in the NFL if Hershel Walker is in the NFL? Walker never posted a faster time than him before?
2. I was hoping Danny Sullivan would pull an upset, like when that skinny track dude significantly out-lifted hulking Joe Frazier in that athletic competition NBC held.
I didn't see the Frazier incident, but those old competitions were fun. IIRC, Evander Holyfield held his own with the NFL guys pretty well in the mid-1980s Superstars competition. I wish they still had such competitions now. It would be interesting to see MMA guys, boxers, international rugby players, etc. along with NFL/NBA etc. I imagine most athletes now don't want to risk an injury or an embarrassment. It might even violate contracts they sign.
