This is not common though. But if the one is a beast and the others are nerdy scientists then maybe they are afraid. In a confined space just one tackling the legs while the others rush in its hard to fend off. In that space there would be knives and objects to be used as weapons. If it's that bad though the guy probably locks his bedroom door and carries a weapon of his own. Curious to see what happens but it's hard to stay on guard 24/7 and not have someone take a swing with a wrench or knife.

Restraining the guy would work if the cops can be there tomorrow, but it could be days, weeks, even months...that's posting a guard every day, feeding him, bathroom breaks and hygene...they can't do that safely because they're not equipped for it, and once dude gets out it's game over...and he will break free because that's what a trapped individual will do, otherwise he'll likely waste away being restrained (not that I care if in fact guilty)

There's really no other realistic option that doesn't put everyone else in danger....

Right but I'm familiar with sword canes and other self defense gimmicks and a lot of them are more of a liability than any help. I'd be worried that sword breaks or bends if you actually use it. A junk weapon and a false sense of security is a recipe for disaster. You don't want to find out you can't fight as good as you thought or that your weapon doesn't work worth a fuck in a life and death situation.

I can believe it actually. A lot of people are giant fucking pussies.

Once one of my friends (tiny 5' chick) told me she was walking at night and some methed out homeless dude grabbed her and started choking her out of nowhere. She said she saw a young, normal looking guy walk by on the other side of the street who looked at what was happening, and just walked off in the opposite direction. Didn't yell or even call the cops, much less intervene himself. She couldn't believe it. To this day she's more mad at the guy who did nothing than the homeless guy.

Look I'm not a tough guy but I've been in fights and trained different martial arts and competed because I know I'm not a tough guy. I wouldn't call myself a badass but damn if it's a life or death situation, a woman got fucking raped, I know I'm doing something about it. I don't care if I get hurt in the process because I'm still a fuckin man. These nerds are so scared to be in a fight that they would rather wait and hope this psycho won't hurt them again. It's only a matter of time he kills someone.

This is an interesting psychological case study as well. It shows you how a meek majority can be controlled by a few people who have perceived power. It's why animals get hunted and run from predators despite outnumbering them 100 to 1.

That was the smart move on his part. Getting involved in other people's shit is 100% not worth the trouble. Not even from a self-preservation standpoint but a legal standpoint. Not ending up on the national news getting smeared for accidentally killing a crackhead in defense of some chick I don't know. Take care of you and yours, rest gotta fend for themselves.
