Yair Rodriguez Out for awhile

man what a bootlicker life you seem to live.

The bottom line is that if these guys can't make their names outside of the UFC promoting it (their names,) then they're not really adding value to the company.
They need to figure out a way to get become interesting to the mainstream. As much as I'm not a fan of Conor McGregor's BS spiel (I'll always watch him fight) he got eyeballs on him and got himself paid. Guys like Izzy are on a major tear, but no one outside of the sport/fanbase really knows who he is; but anyone who'd watch him fight would think they're watching a Bruce Lee movie or something.
It sucks for the athletes, but that's the reality of the situation.
Jon Jones got a lot of hype immediately because of who his brothers were; but.... I mean I could go on and on.
Either way, dude's from Mexico. You'd think he'd get involved with a beer company, or Tequila brand. He's from up north where they make the much overlooked Sotol. He could definitely partner with one of those distilleries. Maybe his manager has already tried this; but this is just off the top of my head.

t happened isnt our business its his"
Wouldn't the opposite of bootlicker be someone who guns for better than what's put in front of them? And if so, don't fighters have that opportunity before signing a contract? How are contractors who don't honour contracts anything more than dishonourable, when the time to vye for something is before one legally commits himself?

Sherdog commies are always funny

There's nothing wrong with renegotiating once you've established that you have a higher value to the company; but your point was valid.

I’m thinking they are just tired of him ducking fights. Zabit made a post earlier implying he ducked him for a 5th time.

Dana said he did not turn down the fight at the end of the post fight interview. It was something else that will keep him from fighting for a while.

Spin kicked himself out of a window. Tragic.

Thing is, renegotiating implies something contractual. Why should one party be expected to be amenable to renegotiation if the other party can't be expected to abide by a contractual document?

Second and final point: although you're right that time changes a worker's overall value, A) a worker's value can go down too (which would be the company's burden to bear) and B) for someone optimistic about his value going up, stipulations about money changing congruently with that can be subsumed in the original contract -- it doesn't require a second contract, just some basic forethought.

lol. You’re probably too stupid to understand. You stand for the the flag and “freedom” that it represents, I’m sure.

Valid points especially if we're talking traditional business models; however, there are way too many variables to account for in this sport. Long story short, things can change rather quickly.
Also, the UFC is able to release fighters from their contracts (obviously at some due to their obligations;) but they don't have to keep them on or give them favorable matchups, which is exactly what they did to Hunt until he decided that he wanted to start merking people a couple of years ago.

Technically USADA would be deemed medical which could be a hippa violation if any UFC officials announced it publicly.
not sure what you're talking about. every sanction by usada is publicly announced.

jon's brothers were pretty unknown when jones came on the scene in the ufc. not that your overall point is off...

To clarify, Jon Jones having two brothers playing D-1 ball (or were they in the NFL yet?) added some interest to his story. Fans were going to get excited quicker (you know, high level athlete genetics in the family, etc...)
Remember that his first couple fights were decisions over mid tier fighters. He wasn't like Conor McGregor who came in and merked Marcus Brimage in like 60 seconds.

Dude has always been no more than a part time journeyman fighter in my eyes.

jones had already impressively beaten bonnar, obrien, hamill (lol) and vera before arthur was drafted. chandler was just a young prospect. agree that coming from an athletic family and seeing his athleticism in the cage was part of his story but it was mostly his performances that reinforced that.

Such a baseless trumptard perspective
He may be a wench at times but he's got more talent than you're willing to admit and the dude is not a duck
injury prone and drama queen no doubt

what does it have to be with being a trumptard?
I know the post wasn't addressed to me but:
I also think yair is a diva AND a duck,
I might be a retard, but I'm sure as hell not a trumptard, that's crossing the line bro

My bad ^^^

he still isn't a duck in my book although he was at one time I'm talking versus Stephens remember that ?
Full on ducking it seemed But then he changed the trajectory of Stephens path. Permanently it seems . Seriously the antics of that fight would've intimidated most but as soon as Yair was well he destroyed JS so after that I changed my opinion and I believe things out of his control cause him to miss fights

Yair vs Ortega will be fight of the year one day I'm calling it

Maybe it's because I'm old, but I remember the hype around him for the Bonnar fight. His opponent's experience wasn't supposed to count for so much. That said, after that, I didn't give any of his opponents much of a chance until he fought Santos (although I didn't think Santos would do as well and even possibly win.) I did see Gus doing somewhat well before the fight but thought that Jones would control the last few rounds, and thought Cormier would make the first fight more competitive.

Even Zabits coach is fed up with Yair lol
