Yair Rodriguez Out for awhile

"hes not hurt"
"he didnt decline fight"

WHO ELSE TOOK THIS AS A PED VIOATION?

He's ducking Zabit.. again

The only thing more mysterious was the Robert Whitakker pull out where Dana said Whittaker was a fantastic and altruistic dude
I don't think Dana would grant Yair such a luxury considering his track record in this department. Whitaker was actually doing something for the wild brush fire break out catastrophe in Australia, I think it was reported.

Screw this dude. He's always bailing out of fights and ducking

Dana was very cryptic about this at the presser.

He asked somebody off camera: "Have we not spoken about this publicly yet?"

He then said that Yair didn't turn down any fights and that whatever the issue is none of his/the UFC's business. I'm not sure what that means. Sounds like personal trouble or maybe USADA.

I don't think it's a failed test or anything, because I think that issue is definitely the business of the company you're supposed to (at least in the public eye) fight clean in.

I think it's something else, if he got USADA'd, that's UFC business since they work together. That wouldn't be Dana's call to make it official but to say it's not their business, it can't be that, or Dana's purposely blurring the picture. Not money related because Dana said he didn't turn down Zabit. And he is not injured. Could be family related, like cancer or something.

But Dana wouldn't have reacted like that. When Whittaker took some months off for what we thought was family related, Dana had very kind words, that Robert was the most selfless guy he know or something.

My guess is it's something with the law. Not UFC related, not Dana related.. dude got jail time or something?

Technically USADA would be deemed medical which could be a hippa violation if any UFC officials announced it publicly.

I tend to agree. I only included it because in the past Dana has acted like USADA is totally autonomous, even though it's really not, and has said things like "Hey, that's USADA's investigation, that's up to them."

More likely it seems like some weird personal stuff.

In any case, I think it's time for a promotional shift. Brandon Moreno should take over as UFC's "face" of Mexican MMA. He's exciting, likeable, and speaks English well. I'd promote him, and Grasso, in that market way more than Yair.

man what a bootlicker life you seem to live.
Wouldn't the opposite of bootlicker be someone who guns for better than what's put in front of them? And if so, don't fighters have that opportunity before signing a contract? How are contractors who don't honour contracts anything more than dishonourable, when the time to vye for something is before one legally commits himself?

Sherdog commies are always funny

It might be USADA or maybe his having some serious life issues.

Hopefully whatever it is he comes back soon and actually takes that Zabit fight.
I feel if it was life issues he might have been a bit more sympathetic. This felt like legal thing. Might have beat up a bouncer or maybe some girl is accusing him of some metoo shit. Dana had a disappointed fed up energy about it.

On his podcast, John Morgan said he was hearing it’s a USADA whereabouts violation.

Considering he got popped back in Zabit then that's a considerable time lapse where something of that nature would've leaked imo

To say he bailed out of Zabit because of injury would be a despicable act Plus something should've leaked from Zabit camp because they would be in the know as well

this is peculiar
That's the point of the new USADA procedures with any irregular finds, it's so information doesn't leak while they go through the process. Information would get leaked before then they find contaminated supplements, picos, residue from years or go, or some other science buzzwords to turn results around so they can fight. So now they let the whole process play out and only mention something if there is an official suspension.

Zabit already made a cryptic post so his camp may have got word already that the match up won't be on the table. Dana said Yair didn't turn down a fight so no official fight was offered, but that was the match up Zabit wanted but now it's off the table.

If a fight wasn't offered, Zabit is moving on from the fight, Dana is pissed off, I would assume USADA over injury/personal issues. Dana usually doesn't react like that to injuries or personal issues, especially if the fight wasn't official or even offered yet. Maybe if the fight was official and Yair dropped out for those reasons suddenly causing issues with the event, then he would react like that. But the current timeline makes me think USADA and he's upset at a possible suspension.

As in he doesn't have direct control over and it's a USADA issue. Seems like he's waiting for results because he said once they figure it out they would let him know.
