Wrestlers who finish

Some MMA fighters wrestle... some don't.

Some MMA fighters finish... some don't.

One has nothing to do with the other.

to some extent I agree, but their is still one-dimensional or cross training fighters in the UFC. I know most of them train all aspects like GSP, Cain, Anderson, Machida and Cruz. But there are still some fighters who only know one possible way to victory. And Guida is one of those fighters. He was outstriked and on top postioin did absolutely nothing other than stay on Hatsu's guard. While Hatsu outstriked Guida, tried to sub Guida, and basically didnt let Guida progress in any way while on his guard.

Faber was a walk-on @ ca. davis wrestling program and finished his collegiate career as UC-Davis' all-time win leader and as an alternate on the University Nationals World Team.

Thanks for the info.

Wrestlers use other disciplines to finish fights.

If you want to get technical about it, I guess Rampage with his slams is one of the only mainstream people to actually finish someone with wrestling on a semi-frequent basis (back in the day).

The art itself is an intermediary skill in MMA, totally valuable and needed, but opens doors to all of the other avenues of MMA to actually finish a fight.

Wrestlers who finish fights, are wrestlers who train other things than just wrestling.

excellent answer

It's much easier to be a finisher when you're heavy...I find it irrelevant to post Lesnar or Coleman

Coleman, Frye, Carwin, Evans, Velasquez, Dan Henderson, Johny Hendricks, Matt Hughes, Jon Jones, etc.

There are LOTS of them.....

The best thing a wrestler can do is use that wrestling in combination with other skills, such as GnP, submissions, BJJ, judo, or learning how to be really good at fighting standing up or in the clinch.

If all someone does is lay on top of a man and prevent any action, they aren't really a mixed martial artist; they're just a man who likes to cuddle with other men.
