Oh man. You're really clueless about athletics. Understand that when you bodybuild you lose your skill. If you build up muscle you actually lose functionality in it. Of course there's a sweet spot between having muscle and being able to retain your skill. Bodybuilders have so much muscle they wouldn't be able to learn any skill while they're bodybuilding because the massive muscles just won't allow it.
Wow! You're straight talking out of your ass right now

It's not POWER, not true power in the sense of how our body really generates power.

Yes there is some aspect of power to what they do, but with little understanding of how the human body works of course it isn't truly "functional" like the previous post said.

Martial artists are closer in knowing how our body works and what it's capable of moreso than normal people including muscle headed weightlifters who are wasting their lives and time because they will LOSE IT ALL when they age whereas martial artists will become much more mature in mind, spirit, AND body.

Bodybuilders are just making up for their weak egos so they attempt to be huge when in reality the muscle they have is WORTHLESS in the sense of real ancestors in evolution. They would be fodder for ALL quadrupeds because 1 they wouldn't be able to keep up with the cardio of REAL hunters and 2 they're too slow

how exactly do they lift those huge weights then?

You do realize everything you wrote is rhetoric and hyperbole. You made NOT ONE statement based in science or fact

When I saw the video has a man wrestling a manlet I instinctively knew this thread had a 69% chance of devolving into a manlet shouting match.

And I was right.

If you're male and under 5'10" with a networth of less than 10 million you should just go kill yourself tbh.

Really nobody has offered any concrete evidence. It's all supposition.
I'm glad someone else recognizes how useless it would be to create a dialogue with people that are just spewing trash

Simply not true.

Bodybuilders are strong, this video shows a difference in wrestling skill. The definition of functional strength depends on what the function is. If there is a lady trapped under a burning truck and a bodybuilder comes along and deadlifts it off her, he’s shown great strength for that function.

I think the talk in mma about wrestlers being strong is really a talk about their wrestling skill. They will say “they can’t lift that much in the weight room, but on the mat they seem so strong”. They aren’t super strong, they know how to wrestle better than you that’s why you can’t move them, that is their functional strength.

I think bodybuilding gets a bad rap because of the top percentage that are so big they can’t fight or the bros in the gym that only do bench and curls. I’m reality a lot of fighters could benefit from bodybuilding. Aesthetically, bodybuilding is about being symmetrical, from a structural standpoint they would be more balanced than most athletes. Think of Frank Zane, not the bubble guts of today. A lot of fighters have poor posture and are uneven in their muscular development. If they took some methods from bodybuilding they would be able to generate more power and reduce the chance of injury.

Lol. You're a size troll. Which suggests you've got some kinda weirdo hangup on the subject. Prob sucks to be you.
Wowow haha you’re backtracking like I’ve never seen on sherdog

Keep on walking back

bodybuilders have no functional strength. it's not a mystery
True to an extent. Not always. Many pro' train functional as well during off seaaon in particular. They have terrible cardio though.
Unless you meant flexibility, balance and agility etc. Then yea they dont.
Lifting wise, they do incorporate functional strength exercises.

Umm no I'm not. I've been involved in bodybuilding and many sports that involve skill. So I'm actually talking from experience.
What's funny is guys like you who have no idea about athletics outside of being a ufc fan and think that big muscles = kicking ass.
