That's not true... obviously powerlifters and strongmen are stronger... duh.. but any pro bodybuilder will SEVERELY outlift a random person. They all do a lot of compound exercises, albeit in the 10-20 rep range.
Lol you have no idea what he means by functional strength.

Imo functional strenght = teach a bodybuilder how to do a takedown and that bodybuilder will take down 99% of all people within a month.

Obviously people who have been training wrestling for years and years are the 1% here.

No, Poster has no idea what functional strength is
Functional strength is strength that serves some fuction other than linear push and pull movements. For example the strength used in MMA. We don't know this?

Dude, you’ve got it ass backwards. Wrestler would have structural strength, bodybuilder would have functional strength

this is functional. how many bodybuilders are doing such movements?

I have fictional strength which is the greatest strength of all

Nothing really surprising here for anyone who follows combat sports but still pretty entertaining to watch this wrestler just manhandle a freaking giant. Mods sorry if its in the wrong forum....

It's the hair.

This is not about your opinion, this is a fitness fact. Strenght training in MMA is functional strength training. Bodybuilders are completely useless. They can't even wipe their own ass. Their muscles are so large that they have no flexibility, speed, or balance. So no, you cant teach a bodybuilder how to do a proper takedown because his body won't allow the mechanics that are involved. Furthermore he would get too gassed from the exertion. Bodybuilders can't even walk a flight of stairs without breaking into a sweat and breathing heavily.
If you trained a bodybuilder for a month and he was able to pull it off, guess what that means? He lost a lot of muscle which enabled him to do that which also means he's not a bodybuilder anymore.

So what is functional strenght then exactly?

yep.

most people have no idea about hip flexors, rotators and tendons. it's all just 'muscles' to them.

ask bodybuilders to perform a Kyrie Irving step-dribble and they'll tear their knee. even Kyrie has to get surgery because of the force on his joints and he's been developing those muscles since be was a child playing ball.

Functional strength is strength that deals with the way your muscles are designed to work. Twisting, turning, odd angles, kind of like a farmer's strength. Someone who has strenght from doing multiple varying movements unlike a bodybuilder who is largley just push and pulling in linear motions.

Fair enough, but that is also open for interpretation. I agree most pro bodybuilders are too muscular to wipe their ass lol, so agreed on that part. Then again compound exercises are built upon the principle of natural movements (lifting things, pushing them away, pull up, push up etc), so i guess we both have a point. Let's agree to agree.

<{jackyeah}>

I combine both BJJ and strongman/powerlifting specializing in farmer walks and powercleans and when I first started getting into BJJ I had a huge advantage, not just from the strength but also muscle awareness and knowing what muscles to use in which situation. Being able to consciously generate power from your core and hips is a huge advantage in nearly every sport
