Biden will get destroyed in a debate, as Jeb and Cruz did

People forget that Cruz is arguably the most qualified debater in US politics currently given his background, and he got obliterated

It's hard to prepare for shit like being called low energy or a crook, or just the sheer trolling aspect
It has nothing to do with debate skill when going up against Trump.

First weekend off in months. The weather is going to be bad.

Taxes, but not healthcare.

I actually think the opposite: that he's more vulnerable on healthcare than taxes.

On taxes, he can say "no, the middle class will not see a tax hike" or, if they will, that they'll be paying a far lower percentage of the revenue burden. Make it about the GOP regressive tax schedule and billionaires paying their fair share.

On healthcare, though, there's just no getting around the "he wants to take away your insurance" bit.

Ted didn't get obliterated, people saw him eat a bogger on national TV and he has always come off as slimy.

The debates aren't being judged by department chairs at Ivey league school

Yup.

I loved him calling that one dude at a town hall fat and challenging him to a push up contest lol
Yeah, this is what i'm talking about. We've got 2 grumpy old men squaring off and I don't believe the high road will ever be seriously considered.

Sanders' socialism has not been tested across the spectrum yet. He should be assumed to be extremely vulnerable there. This is rarely acknowledged when defending his electability (which is a major shortcoming of Bernie people). It's not certain that it will lose him the election or anything though.

Yeah people keep talking about Bernie being a Social Democrat and point to Nordic countries but was he not a legit Soviet sympathizer?

But TBF I think that would have been a bigger deal in 2016.

Now I think people are more familiar with him and won't be spooked.

Also this Iran thing is a HUGE gift to Bernie. Especially now that Trump appears to doubling down as he refuses to leave Iraq even though they are asking us to leave.

There is a very easy way to get around the lie about taking away your insurance.
Insurance policies change every year. he’s not only making insurance more consistent and stable, he’s expanding service and reducing cost. It’s not like anybody is attached to their insurance. It’s a false narrative that the right wingers (of both parties) have been trying to convince people to care about.

Joe beat Paul Ryan in a debate just by simply laughing at him

Joe can go toe to toe with Trump when it comes to this kind of fight.

I think so, too
And I suspect Trump won't handle it as well as some think. I feel like being insulted to his face will be rage inducing.

Yeah, the range of electability between candidates in the same party is much lower than casuals think, but there is reason to fear that Bernie is on the lower end of it for Democratic candidates.

I think it's more simple than all of this. He will gain a lot from being a brash old white man, and he will lose some considerable amount for being a socialist. How people interpret his views on the USSR and the Cold War is mostly going to be informed by raw bias, and not a careful study or criticism.

That's precisely my pt
The most qualified debater for the GOP got bodied with ease

Cant plan for getting pettily insulted in a formal decorum

Ya
Which is why the greatest troll not named Sacha Cohen won the Presidency

Randos love trolls

It's remarkable, imo, how much more skilled as a politician Cruz is than the rest of the prominent Republicans.

He ended up in second place with that face, that voice, and that personality. And he played the long-game in 2016 perfectly.

I think when people think of socialism they think of poor Soviets with empty super markets.

It's the whole reason Socialism = bad in the US

It's basically what's left of the Cold War
