I'll think she'd do well in that role.

However, she'll be very effective for right-wing rabble rousing. She's a farther left, bolder, more confident, and less feminine version of Nancy Pelosi. All the sexist tropes will be deployed.

Of course, I suspect Bolso will still try to have him arrested and barred from running (and to fudge the election in every other way imaginable). But it looks like a showdown for the ages could be on the horizon in Brazil.

I heard about this, good news. Seems like the timing of the original charges were to get him out of the presidential race so they achieved that goal. Now with Bolsonaro in power he has advantages as the incumbent. He's also setting up his unwillingness to concede should he lose fair and square with his references to the 2020 elections in the US and Trump's narrative of fraud. I didn't think of it at the time but in hindsight it makes perfect sense that aspiring authoritarians in fragile democracies would take Trump's lead. Here there was never a chance it would work but in Brazil I think the chances are far higher.

It could get very ugly. If Lula wins a democratic election (he should be the clear favorite just in terms of votes), the chances of Bolsonaro reinstating the military dictatorship are like, what, 1 in 3?

That's in my Abebooks wishlist lol. Did you ever order and read John Brown:Abolitionist? I'll buy it off you if I did, I gifted my copy to someone and I regret it lol.

Lincoln did everything he could to distance himself from John Brown so I'm interested to read a moderate account.

I'm a huge Orwell fan, I've read all of his work, his personal letters and there's an incredible book in my library I always recommend.

Incredible book (the binding is quite garbage. I adore Pluto Press but Jesus....) and it's heralded by Chairmen of the Orwell society.

The prevalence of "Orwellian" is surprising to me, because one could say Candace Owens is Orwellian, most right wing propaganda is Orwellian. Hell, half the forum saw me bare my teeth over some dipshit saying Orwell wasn't a leftist.

Manufacturing Consent is the theoretical and analytical version of 1984, much like Homage to Catalonia by Orwell was the theoretical and analytical verison of For Whom the Bell Tolls by Hemingway.

Hell, look at what they have done to the term Libertarian because of Rand and Objectivist theory. I had that dumbfuck Scorpion try to tell me that Libertarian Socialism isn't real because he was a stupid inbred loser lol.

We are in uncharted waters imo.

I've been meaning to read but just been reading Niel Gaiman book's. Yeah that book is my next book to read. Speaking of Orwell people need to really read his books and read his interviews too.
