Would Cain's stratergy against JDS work on every MMA fighter on the planet?

cain's strategy would quickly turn into overeem vs. lesnar II if he isn't able to take down reem.

JDS stuffed several cain td's and kongo has rocked cain, took cain down, stuffed takedowns, and took cain down himself.

overeem has shrugged off brock and bullied him with ease.

all of these things add to it being possible for overeem to stop the takedown, and getting the ko against cain.

also werdum could possibly sub.

almost. i'm not sure how successful that would be vs. werdum, overeem, or cormier.

wont work on a guy that decides to keep the fight on the ground like Mir. Wont work on DC via training with Cain. Wont work on Werdum because he would try knees all day instead of defending any takedown like Frank

It could, even in the Werdum example.

When is the last time you saw Cain actually stay in someones guard?

Ever?

Cain uses a form of top control that lets his opponent repeatedly try to get up while taking punches that lead to almost immediately getting put down again.

He doesnt work from guard at all, something most sub specialist want.

Werdum would be in deep do do against cain....a really bad matchup for him.

Thank you, you sir know your MMA.

I think so. It's an unbeatable strategy, like Sonnen's but with stand up and GNP that hurts.

Not against a guy whose a better wrestler than himself (Daniel Cormier in this case). Also think the 3rd fight with JDS could be interesting as JDS now knows what to prepare for and will most likely let his hands go since he knows he can get up after Cains takes him down.

Its a very good strategy that will work in a high % of fights. But to say unbeatable...a well timed flying knee could argue against you. (not saying the flying knee is the way to beat Cain at all, just that MMA is unpredictable and that the right shot at the right time can completely change a fight despite the gameplan.

Every once in a while, he will get clipped

No, that strategy wouldn't work against Overeem.

As good as that strategy was, Overeem is the last guy you want to engage with against the cage, I believe he would do some serious damage to Cain's face with some knees in a Thai clinch.

Cain would need to shoot at Overeems legs if he wants to take him down, something Brock Lesnar failed at attempting.
I believe it wouldn't end well for Cain. However, Alistair's chin IS questionable.

All credit to Cain but this fight showed some mayor shortcomings of his opponent JDS. You might hope that he forgot to bring his gas-tank with him this time. Don't forget about his inability to fight from the defense. Reminds me of Cro Cop.

Defend until he gassed, come on, he almost died of exhaustion after defending against Werdum when he pulled guard.

The point is that Overeem would be far more willing to fire off shots on Cain than he did against Werdum. You go to the ground with Werdum you most likely wont get back up. Cain wins by attrition and accumulative damage. Cain isnt going to be subbing Overeem immediately when the fight hits the ground. I could however see Overeem locking in some type of guillotine though.

No but for his next fight against Overeem it will work perfectly. Overeem will gas 10x quicker than JDS and be a punching bag for a round before quitting.

Sorry dude but apparently you dont watch fights and analyze individual skill sets. JDS is NOTHING like Overeem as they have vastly different skill sets. Overeem is a threat to Cain in far different ways. Thats just how it is.
