Worst casting choices in a movie

Yeah, he was chewing the scenery just like he was thirty years ago lol.

His two scenes with Stephen Graham were among my favorites in the film.

Complaining about him not wearing a suit to a business meeting.

This is how you dress in Florida? In a suit?

Anywhere. New York. Florida. Timbuktu. I always dress in a suit. For a meeting…
Yeah leave it to Scorcese to make a scene that shouldnt be nothin on paper into one of the most fun scenes ever to watch.

Stephen Graham is amazing, the chemistry they both had..etc

Not the most noteworthy actor/movie but Eric Bana’s “New York accent” in Deliver Us From Evil was the most cringe inducing thing I’ve sat through as a native NYer. Is that what Americans sound like when trying to put on an Australian accent? If so I get why you guys hate us.
On the topic of failed accents...

Brad Pitt was supposed to play one of the normal british characters in Snatch, and based on my limited details of this, presumably an earlier draft of the film, so I am not sure exactly which character or if the character even wound up in the final version of the film.

His London, or whatever UK dialect he was supposed to do was so bad that guy Ritchie just scrapped that idea entirely and put Brad in as the pikey
1) b/c Brad sucked so bad at UK accent and
2) as an intentional sort of "fuck you" aimed at the vast amount of criticism that Guy received for "Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells" characters having too thick of an accent and being hard for the audience to understand.

* well if you got your panties in a twist over that accent, get a load of this character who talks so fucking garbled that even the other characters in the film don't understand what he was saying,

and so the pikeys in Snatch were born.

Yeah but again, Tom Hardy got the acting chops like Heath Ledger and Liam Neeson had. Bautista just doesnt, especially back then.

He's much better now though.

Idk, to me it's about your opinion of what casting should be

If to you is just better actor to play that part in that movie then Hardy was good choice (and on general fit Nolan who gave very little fucks about do a "Batman movie" except Batman Begins where he felt less freedom to do how he wanted)

But to me when portraying a character with known image, then have right physicality (or at least go close to it) in casting should be a top priority, would say the first filter, then find best actor you can find from there

Gary Oldman is way better actor than Hardy, yet i could not buy him play "young" Dracula, old decrepit one Oldman played it incredibly, but young he completely lacked the badassery to sell it... young Dracula in the book was sharp motherfucker with terrifying aura of danger, Oldman got 0% of that there

A live action Dragon Ball will never ever work. Just a cash grab for gullible super fans of the show

Julia Roberts is certainly attractive but I found it pretty ridiculous that she got the slow mo, jaw dropping entrance in Oceans Eleven and Danny is plotting this insane heist just to impress her

Every man in the audience should be thinking "Yeah, I'd rob this vengeful psychopath and risk going to prison for her" and she's just not that kind of glamorous beauty

Donnie wahlberg in the 6th sense. Shoulda been the skinny kid from road trip.

I thought the use of a real boxer worked fine. He just played himself and didnt have to do any acting in the movie. It worked perfectly. I think it was an adjustment to the times that this movies series had to, and did make.

To try and make an over the top boxing movie in 2007 like it was in the 70s and 80s just was gonna make the whole thing look dated as fuck.

Thats what everyone was expecting, to its detriment. So they kind of updated it.

This wasnt some retro Expendables type thing, it was trying to be a serious movie.

I think he was intentionally chosen to be bland.

Rocky Balboa was about him vs his demons, and what it means to be a boxer, so they needed somebody who wasn't going to steal the limelight, but was also going to do a good job in the fight scenes, and generally representing boxing as a sport.

Rocky 5 was exactly the movie you described in your second paragraph. It dealt with serious issues like CTE and his family issues, yet was trivialised with the comedy Don King character and Tommy Morrison's character arc; so ultimately ended up as a complete mess.

Fantastic Four was TERRIBLY Cast.
Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm was awful. He looks and acts nothing like source material. And how is he related to Sue Storm played by Kate Mara? Awful.
Miles Teller is a suck ass actor and way too young to play Reed Richards.

I'll take some beef with Day Lewis in Gangs of New York. He made the character his own. He was as over the top as the rest of the movie.

Brad Pitt in Troy was fine cause no one was authentic. The only one who thought he was doing a serious film was Eric Bana. Bloom with his clumsy arrow shooting was silly as if we didn't see him actually pretend arrow shoot for 3 movies. Brian Cox was just doing whatever he wanted.

Dare I say.....

Hayden Christensen's mannequin acting in the prequels.

Good luck trying to make me believe Mark Wahlberg is a biology teacher. He sounds like a fucking moron when he talks because he is a fucking moron. He can’t even fake being smart.

Not a good movie, but made worse by the decision to cast him as the lead.
He was a NYC teacher. If you see what they hire there, you wouldn't be that put off. But I agree, bad performances all around. Zooey was even more awful imo.

I think the most financially damaging casting came from Woke Disney. They screwed the pooch so bad to go woke, the movie couldn't even get a release until they fixed it. Fans went nuts and said "Oh hell no" to them replacing the 7 dwarves with normal sized people of mixed race and sexual orientations. The Dwarf community came out and said, these were beloved characters that any of them would be proud to play as they were heroes. Not to mention the lack of roles for little people as it is, they took jobs away. When Disney realized how they fucked up they put the Dwarves back in, but made them CGI.....you can't make this up.
They also cast a Latina actress as the white Snow White. She comes out in interviews saying she is proud to be a Latina princess and then shits all over the original calling it "creepy and stalkerish". Skin as white as snow no longer applied because White is wrong.
To me this is the Bud light of Disney and it has already cost them millions. Casting is so important to a film and is the number one thing that woke DEI hires destroy.
