If they're not gonna pay him show money at least get him a fight soon to make up for it
they'll put him on the prelims against a tough Russian on a card in China next year

He shouldn't have been forced to make a choice to begin with. If your opponent misses weight by 3 pounds, the fight should be cancelled with the fighter who made weight being paid their show money. No discussion. It is absolutely not fair to make Thompson decide if he wants to still fight or not.In the end it was his choice.
That guy has to be the prime example of a punchable face.Dana saving money for another birthday present to Nelk boys\

How the hell can anyone make WB out to be the bad guy here? He made weight, his opponent didn't. WB should not be punished, he did nothing wrong and it is within his right to refuse the fight. 5 pounds is a lot to be over.
I heard 5 but if it's 3 then it's 3, but regardless he was over weight and that's still an advantage.Yes, 5 pounds is a lot to be over, 3 is also a lot but not ALOT.
Don’t know where you got 5 pounds over from.
I believe that happened with Thompson vs Till. Thompson accepted under the condition that Till couldn't weigh more than 188.No, but they can try to cut egregious amounts of weight and fail. And that would give them an advantage in a catchweight fight.
Like if someone tries to cut 40 pounds from 210 to 170, and manages to cut 35 pounds, they'll be ABSURDLY large at 175. In no way shape or form should any welterweight ever accept that fight.
What I like are mandatory in-cage weight limits for weight misses. I've seen this done before. If you miss weight, they'll say "you must weigh X before the fight tomorrow". So if someone misses by 3 pounds, they shouldn't be allowed to weigh more than 185 pounds the following day. Something like that. It prevents these egregious weight cuts from being rewarded.
Even going so far as saying he used the miss as an excuse to duck, he never wanted to fight etc. Instead of the guy that couldn't make weight being the one dodging the fight.Yes, they're blaming wonderboy for the whole situation including his opponent missing weight...
He has good reason to turn down the fight. Perreira was 3-4 lbs over which means after hydrating he’d be close to 190-195

Good, guy holding up division, turning down fights with grapplers and then refused a fight with a guy 2lbs over.
