Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

The government grants have to be very good as LFA doesn't charge for tickets in Brazil. Neither does Jungle Fight although Jungle Fight does have a huge TV audience and they are backed by Rede Globo.

They had to post about how much money they are getting in the district grant on their instagram. They got almost 3 mil brl for this show, so over half a mil usd.

So is Feijao running LFA’s Brazilian shows? He has his own gym/management company?
LFA brazil president, has his own mma team and management company. Although the management company is ran under Ed Soares’s. So I imagine he signs and develops talent and Ed does the international booking for them.

Thanks for the info.

Pendell made her debut in Invicta with a snooze fest, but quickly turned that around, having fun fights since

Norika Ryu picked up a sub over Nieves Adele at ONE Friday Fights today;

Three straight at ONE for Ryu at 125. Xiong Jingnan might actually have a contender soon

i got dee gomes and jacqueline cavalcanti this week in ufc. very interested to see how Mayra has continued to fare under the fighting nerds too
Gonna sneak in a last minute picks to say the same winners.

Also think we could see Tecia retirement.
And MBS maybe cut although it's Bw so

Bummer that Tecia lost. Bummer that Gomes won - she of the type and style I generally do not enjoy. Wasn't too good a fight either, but a few cool kicks from Tecia kept me around. Not fun to see her gone soon, always been a favourite of mine from Invicta times onwards, but a nice career of hanging near the very top for years and years and exiting with very very little true damage to have a healthy Real Life after UFC (and getting her degree while fighting) makes me happy too. Anyway...

The other was ok. More entertaining girl won.

those fucking nerds ruined mayra as a fun fighter, i am pissed  is it too late to go back to ATT

She was always a one tick pony, though. Either she gets an early sub, or decision city.

Sucks Tecia lost again. Easy to forget she;s 36, even though she’s been around for over ten years

Did not see full fight but stoppage seems fishy to me. Like its pro mma, u dont stop fight because of bleeding, girl was still defending herself... and it was 1 minute before "bell". Straight up hate this stoppage...

OFL is a step above Samurai Fight House production wise for non-Brazilian South American MMA. They put on good shows.

The standouts in those fights are the 2 Combate Global Chilean fighters; Melissa Gomez and Valentina Escobar.

Escobar is indeed a prospect. She came up short in her last fight against Jacinta Austin, who had moved down from fly for the first time, so nothing to be ashamed of. Looks like they’re giving her a tune up.

Gomez could be legit good, if she didn’t throw from so far away. Being an outside striker is one thing, but over extended on your punches from so far away that you’re just landing potter patter is another thing. Her only blemish came against former Invicta title challenger Ana Palacios, who got a lightning quick takedown in the last minute of the second round to a RNC. Palacios couldn’t get inside before that.

No idea on the third fight, but the blonde Argentinian is cute

Not sure what’s worse: booking Lindsey VanZandt so soon after she just got finished last month, or the AI rendering of these fighters’ image

Damn, I didn't even know Lindsey had finally fought again after DeCoursey's late shot left her lying with dead glassy eyes staring at the ceiling (😭).
She had 3 years off with concussion issues after that, and I saw an interview where she said she shouldn't have taken that fight to begin with because she was already having issues going in to it. So it was a bit of a relief (?!) to see the record states she lost this new fight due to 'TKO (body shots)'

Incidentally that late blow really bugs me, I generally don't mind fighters 'pouring it on' till they're pulled off (heat of the moment and all that) but I guess there's a sliding scale of where you stop, then continue hitting a clearly finished (even sleeping fighter) that just kinda crosses a line for me. G. Rodrigues had a particularly bad one recently, that's the 'gold standard' of what not to do in my eyes I guess (and walkoff KO's are much cooler anyway).

although let's be honest: it's more to do with how much I like the victim. Derrick Lewis dropping 265lbs+ belated bombs on Travis Brown? Don't care (lol, lmao even).
Someone murdering Lindsey VanZandt (🥺) with a huge punch squarely on her already clearly unconscious chin? - I HOPE YOU 🤬ANYTIME I WATCH U FROM NOW ON

Decoursey hasn’t fought since she lost her first title defense. Allegedly, she wants to have one more fight and then retire. She reposts theVanZandt KO anytime it gets posted to social media. Her lone highlight came against someone who had already suffered a concussion in her camp (allegedly)

I agree with the best KO award. Tursyn kneed the girl so hard in the gut she waved it off
