Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

GFL signees:

Would have preferred to see Kayla Hracho in Invicta, and at atomweight, where she’s undefeated. Oh well. Miao Ding is a weird signing, as she loses to anybody even halfway decent. Kianzad is a good pickup, while Evinger is a head scratcher in 2025

alexa conners at bw?? also pvz just got signed

I will believe the GFL when I see it.

Book your first event before I take this seriously
Just read an article where Marcus parrumpinha (one of att’s headcoach) says the same thing.

He even said gfl offered a 2m contract per fight +300k bonus to some att fighter (he also said it wasnt werdum or arlovski, but rather a not so expressive fella)

Im really curious about the next months

The article (in portuguese) btw

whether gfl happens or not at least it'll give the pink goof a shot in the ass. but I digress.

keep forgetting to post this - joanna on miesha's podcast. it's definitely the longest interview i've seen joanna do, post-retirement.
she talks about life after fighting, how she's changed as a person after her losses. i hadn't heard her speak about the first rose fight in so much depth and it was illuminating. she even talks about wanting to bury the hatchet with claudia gadelha<lol>

Speaking of 105... ONE is still having Ham sit on her fist? Been soon 1.5 years since the last fight and the only news so far has been the interim fight between people Ham beat. Hope something happens in the division after next weekend.

ONE really need to get their shit together, cause when there are fights they are fun and production valued. But now: "Wankers!"

GFL isn't signing the fighters to complete exclusivity. They don't guarantee everyone fights. They'll be completely exclusive if they get drafted. If they don't get drafted, they can compete elsewhere, however GFL has to approve of those fights.

So the current "signing" is basically an option - "If we, later, you might get a fight, yeah... but in the meanwhile, we can restrict your ass" I wonder how long the "GFL has to approve" clause is in effect... Is there an official "draft" date? I am so very confused, as always.

So, basically - an option + a draft, they can gather all the Named Veterans they want, never be held monetarily responsible for the non-drafted ones, and get free publicity for "signing" Jessica Penne or Fred Ettish.

Woooo.

I heard the draft is this month

I wonder if GLF is able to get Megan Anderson off her ass and get to fighting again?

Very unlikely, but I always thought she never reached her full potential.
I don’t think she has any desire to continue fighting. She has her twitch channel, Invicta gig, and writes for ESPN. She seems to have found her niche in the industry post retirement

The draft is on January 25. They're signing fighters for the draft only. That's why you see they've signed 200+ fighters. They're only drafting some of them. The ones who get drafted are guaranteed fights. The one's who don't get drafted are not guaranteed fights and will remain under non-exclusive contract for a while. The fighters who don't get drafted will be able to compete elsewhere as long as GFL approves of it.
