WMMA Discussion #29

Looks like Pancrase is putting on a throwback fight:

In other news, this is beyond dumb:

So LFA champ Rose returns to defend the title, conveniently after Natasha Kuziutina, the interim champ, signs up for the GFL draft. Since gaining the belt in July 2023, Conceicao has fought once, losing in DWCS in Sept 2024.

Any guesses on what happens to some of Bellator's talents like Leah McCourt?
I think they're staying with PFL for two reasons (and they're mostly my assumptions):

1. They said they'll be holding a grand prix format instead of the tournament, so they'll need bodies for that.

2. By halving the grand prize from 1,000,000 to 500,000, they can afford to hold twice as many grand prix. They could realistically hold a bracket for Flyweight and another for Featherweight, on top of having their smaller scale shows that need regular bookings.

Go over their contracts very carefully. If they’re required to give x fights in y amount of time, push them to honor it. If not, ask for release, seek fights elsewhere.

Nope. Featherweights are persona non grata now. They have their flyweight blonde Barbie to play with

I think her husband is getting hit on the reg if he's afraid to be near her when she's mad. like, not even kidding.

ufc this week: i had my heart set on picking karol rosa, but then i remembered that rosa is bad against wrestlers (see: sara mcmann) - heck, even norma dumont held rosa against the fence for long stretches. will ailin perez be deterred by leg kicks? probably not, short of a silva/weidman type leg break. perez UD.

Shout-out to Denise Zamboagna for becoming the first Filipina (interim?) champion in ONE. She finished Alyona Rasohyna, who tapped Stamp Fairtex a few years ago, in the process.

Now I guess it's Denise vs Stamp to unify the belts or whatever. I'm kind of sick of Stamp now so here's hoping Denise usurps her place as the most promoted fighter in eastern WMMA.

Yes, it’s the interim title. Rassohyna hadn’t fought since 2021. Two fighters Seo Hee Ham defeated facing each other for an interim title while Ham has been sidelined by ONE for over a year
