This weekend's ufc card I'm picking Rose by decision, Cavalcanti by finish & Edwards by finish.

On paper Manon seems the logical pick to defeat Rose. She's bigger and has been on a tear lately. She'll have the home crowd with her in Paris. Rose is moving up to 125. She hasn't fought since that bewildering near non-performance loss to Carla Esparza. So it's definitely a wild card.

Yet I feel Rose is capable of surprisingly great performances. Especially after many count her out. For example her victories over Joanna, Weili and Andrade. She is capable of doing the illogical thing and besting Manon with clean crisp striking and willingness to go to the ground.

I think size will be a big factor here. I consider Rose to be more effective everywhere, but Manon is not necessarily deficient anywhere. Manon showed good counter wrestling as early as her fight with Cornelia Holm on the fighter, so I believe that approach would be a mistake by Rose. I suspect Rose’s game plan will involve countering the side kick with a check hook or head kick & going for KO or club & sub. If this is the case.. this fight may end up looking like Namajunas/Waterson or Holm/Nunes. Manon’s striking (& entire game tbh) is not dissimilar to one Weili Zhang, so Rose may feel more prepared than we are anticipating.

For Manon, I think it would be best to press Rose on the fence & chip away for at least a round. I liked her strikes on the clinch breaks against Ricci, but otherwise she’s something of headhunter who lacks body punching & variety to her attacks. Rose truly hates being physically bullied & her gas tank was never impervious to fading. I can’t imagine the extra size will help with this. Manon did outwrestle Bueno-Silva, who is not a bad offensive submission artist.

Thinking I will go Rose via r2 sub. The Paris crowd may send Rose into a tizzy as well.. should be interesting.

picking Josleyne & Jacqueline in the early fights as of now. Might look at some tape later.

According to Fairtex's little monthly lineup it's been doing, Jihin Radzaun is on one of the ONE Lumpinee cards later in the month, and Anita Karim has an mma fight tomorrow.

Looking at the poster, there's a muay thai fight between Barbara Aquiar & Zahra Venum Muay Thai (Zahra Shokouhi), and an mma fight between Thai wrestler Luknam Bunson & I dunno who.

Crazy, because I was watching mma CEO’s live show last night, and was thinking how there’s no women in Korea besides Kim whomUFC could even sign if they wanted to, and now this gets announced. I’ll have to watch Moura’s RWCS fight now

It's France. Do they even have wrestling there? I think they only do Judo, Muay Thai, and kickboxing.
France had some success in wimmin's wrestling in the 'early days' and around the time it was entering the olympics, I guess they converted a bunch of Judokas to get some 'easy medals'. They've faded away since then although they do have a gril winning a couple of medals (incl a world silver) in recent years, not very skillfull but extremely physical and very aggressive, seems like the type to do MMA one day.

(also what happened to Cynthia Vescan's multi-postponed PFL debut?)

Anyway I've decided to forgive UFC for the lack of wrestlefuckers on the card, new MMA crush unlocked: Jacqueline Cavalcanti, hopefully she can release the pistonnes-de-chin avec le visage of the cheese-eating surrender monkey she'll be facing (though if she pushed her against the cage for a round and a half, then took her down and laid on top of her for the rest of the fight, that'd be even better
