I wonder if there's anything of interest left in that Indian tradition of wrestling? Very impressive.

Even if all this training and dieting is, likely, outdated 'tough it out' method, the sheer discipline and workrate gained from it could produce some really interesting results.
indian clubs are still used I believe. There are still indian wrestler but they train in dirt so its hard to translate to the mat

In an American org, of course foreign fighters will have a much Harder time to reach the belt, so it is unlikely, but in terms of skill, someone like Jaideep could have a chance. We see how far someone like Hunt or JDS has made it at hw. I would expect Him to beat both on the feet.

the opposite is true from what I've experienced. At least a good amount of the time those indian tech guys are afraid of their wives.

from what i understand, indian men in india are extremely abusive+controlling and they have incredibly high amounts of rape

its usually the nerdy and cooperative ones that get h1b visas though, so i imagine they are different than the majority

From 1999-2002, I worked a lot in the USA, as a Software Developer, including 6 months west of Atlanta, and all over the US, and yeah, I worked with a load of Indians! Mainly, young guys from 22 -28 years old. They were there on the H1-B visa and I was there on my NAFTA visa. I din't realize that the H1-B visa program was still going on. They were all very nice and friendly (no homo). All they cared about was working hard and making money. Apparently, they don't treat women very well, but that's a subject for another thread!
Yeah I moved here from the northeast and was surprised. As far as the wives go, they don't seem to get out much. Once in awhile you'll see some walking outside pushing a baby stroller. A couple times so far I've seen them in the pool fully clothed (obviously different culture and the whole modesty thing), which was a first.

Guys, do you all know what DJ's middle name is: Dimitrious Khrishna Johnson

Khrishna is an Indian name!!!

started the 1st video and saw a lot of things technically wrong with his demonstration, but it seems more weird to practice on dirt if they plan to later compete on mat, the ground game would be way different
oh i see. Well i wanted your opinion since you are a wrestler. Apparently they have a tough time transitioning from the dirt to the mat. its a traditional style of wrestling.

They're not really into combat sports in India - or at least don't seem to be of high calibre in any.

They're all Cricket mad and growing funky mustaches the policeman out of The Village People would be proud of.

That's weird, because they always seem to have 2-3 jobs, and do a half arsed job of each.

The being on the phone thing all the time really annoys me, who the hell talks that much?
Those are the unsuccessful ones. The same one who will force their kids to study harder and leave the sports to someone else, so their kids don't end up where they are. Just a bad cycle, and some good apples pop up here and there. There's tons of indians who work extremely hard and make shit ton of money. There's 1.2+ billions people and india and at least a 100 million across the world. You're gonna get a ton of every kind of person from that big of a pool.

As far as fighting goes, it's not encouraged in India. Any sport other than cricket is not financially lucrative in India. Even olympic medalists barely get by. So when it comes to fighting which has no financial incentive whatsoever in India, you're barely gonna find people who will make it a career. Plus you're never going to receive anything close to the level of training that you can in USA, or Brazil etc.

It's like asking why aren't there successful American cricketers. Nobody cares about the sport here. But even the mildly successful ones in India are millionares.

I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.

However all the Indians I work with don't seem to possess an athletic bone in their body. I'm confident that if my office had an open weight tournament I'd at least make it to the finals.

So, will we ever see Dana putting the belt on an Indian fighter?
No. They are unathletic and small framed people.

I watched a TUF INDIA show, might ve been 1fc I dunno, but they did a tuf style show. Dear lord it was bad

OneToeKo,

Just curious, where do you work and what industry, where meet lots of Indians?
They are everywhere in IT. My office banned eating at your desk because their curry stunk up the place..

I guess your post proves that Fedor > Hunt or JDS.
