Will an Indian ever hold a UFC strap?

I dated a cute indian woman, they all listen to there parents and there parents don't want them doing anything that has a slight chance of not being successful, she said thats why you don't see alot of famous musicians or actors that are indian because its a high chance of failure

I wonder if there's anything of interest left in that Indian tradition of wrestling? Very impressive.

Even if all this training and dieting is, likely, outdated 'tough it out' method, the sheer discipline and workrate gained from it could produce some really interesting results.

Came across this randomly one day on YouTube...an American wrestler went over to India and tried Pehlwani wrestling.

When Super Fight League started, they had many promising prospects, but unfortunately, most ended up having a mediocre career. It's when the UFC was going to do a TUF: India, and break into the Indian market.

They never did though, because the talent wasn't there. One of India's best fighters actually fought for OneFC a year or two ago, and tapped to strikes in the first round of his debut, if I can remember correctly.

However, they have a solid fighter who's undefeated training at Greg Jacksons.

That's weird, because they always seem to have 2-3 jobs, and do a half arsed job of each.

The being on the phone thing all the time really annoys me, who the hell talks that much?

Very funny you say that. Now that I think about it they are on the phone a ton. I always wonder who they could be talking to for hours on end.

India has probably the most awful record at the Olympics in all history, country of nearly 1.5 billion people and they've only won like 3 gold medals ever, yes EVER. The country in general doesn't care about sports outside of cricket and the government doesn't pump money into sports like they do in China, hence their awful showings at the Olympics.

I don't see the fighting spirit in Indians

OneToeKo,

Just curious, where do you work and what industry, where meet lots of Indians?

There to busy becoming Doctors...

You'd be surprised the athletes India has. I knew an Indian kid in my Phys Ed class back in high school. He ran a Legit 4.4 in the 40 yd dash. His parents didn't let him play sports, unfortunately.

And he was excellent in math/science/computer subjects, right?

I don't see why not.

If an Irishman can be champ, I'd say any country could have a championship level fighter.

Indians produce some of the greatest minds on the planet (Ramanujan anyone?) and are intensely focused on Academic rather than athletic pursuits. When you're intelligent you can find easier and more certain ways to make money.
