Will an Indian ever hold a UFC strap?

A socio-economic issue is related to capability when we're talking about a whole country.
No they're not related at all. Socio-economic issues lead to a lack of resources which limit your capability to further yourself, capability is whether or not you could achieve success given adequate resources. Failing a math class because you aren't smart enough is different from failing a class because you're hungry and don't have a copy of the necessary text book.

India has probably the most awful record at the Olympics in all history, country of nearly 1.5 billion people and they've only won like 3 gold medals ever, yes EVER. The country in general doesn't care about sports outside of cricket and the government doesn't pump money into sports like they do in China, hence their awful showings at the Olympics.

The funniest part is how they're so reactionary to Pakistanis.

After Amir Khan became a household name outside of the UK, now all of a sudden you had bums in India challenging the dude. I mean guys who've never touched a world title. And india's media actually pushing the fight like it means something.

Indians are tough as fuck and almost all of them are ripped and oiled.

LMAO. But for the real though, India is really diverse. And Tamils are in their own category (they're actually a separate race: Dravidian).
I'd say the only Indians worth a while in sports period, are those of Tamil, Punjabi and Pathan (Afghan) origin. Besides that, Pakistan and Bangladesh have potential. Pak already got a good number of boxers.

Most of the "Indians" you see in the US (minus Punjabis) really aren't worth shit.

P.S. Cricket is one of the most darn awful sports in the world.

You're missing the point and your reasoning is circular.

If u consider Tamilnadu, then Kerala is relevant too.

Other states have a wrestling tradition too.

Psst...Chances are if you work in an office you will see less athletic people than if you work in a warehouse or gym.

;)

The greatest wrestler of all time was the Great Gama from India. He out powered all his western opponents. He even fought catch wrestling. So there is no reason why an Indian can't win a major MMA belt.

I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.

However all the Indians I work with don't seem to possess an athletic bone in their body. I'm confident that if my office had an open weight tournament I'd at least make it to the finals.

So, will we ever see Dana putting the belt on an Indian fighter?
lmao this got a legit chuckle out of me.

Indians are just too weak with no cardio.

Dude, Amir Khan vs. any random Indian would make billions, possibly trillions, and quadrillions might not be out of the picture.

Nationalism is a funny thing.

This guy's got a shot:

Didn't he lose his fight with Arianny though?

This seems to be true, which begs the obvious thought. India has so much untapped potential when it comes to its size and population... like China, with its billions of people too. It makes you wonder what cultural constructs are in place, that make India such a large, yet third world country. I know nothing about India, but I think their country is a religious one based on Buddism/Hinduism. In those religions, it is about turn the other cheek and karma and all that. At the same time, they must have an overwheling "ruling class" (i.e. small upper class and large lower class; no middle class).

With such a harmonious, homogenous, and intelligent society, one would think that India really could pull itself together like other Asian countries (Japan in the 50's, South Korea and China these days) and emerge. Seems like they are poised for that kind of positive growth if they could somehow get their shit together.

Yeah, widespread extreme poverty will be a major factor too - I don't know but I would expect while China has huge poverty issues, they would have a much larger middle class.

But they're really good at trading stocks, diagnosing illnesses, programming code, and making engineering breakthroughs.

India would be better if those guys would stay in India instead of seeking wealth in western countries.

Came across this randomly one day on YouTube...an American wrestler went over to India and tried Pehlwani wrestling.

I think I saw the Indian dudes balls while in a scramble. Pulled a hallman with those red shorts.
