If we compare Female champions to Male champions, we will find that they are very inactive compared Male champions and it's not even close, Kayla Harrison last fought in early June, by next month, it will be 3 months and W-BW title hasn't been on the line yet, Zhang Weili last fought in February and no title fight has been booked for her yet since then, and on whether she'll defend her title next or gonna vacate it due to her desire to move up to W-FLY and fight Valentina Shevchenko but by next month, it will be 7 months since W-SW title was on the line, Valentina Shevchenko has last defended her title in May, by next month, it will be 5 months since W-FLY title was put on the line, that means there has been only 3 title fights for WMMA in the UFC, which is very outrageous, cause if we look in the past few years, in 2021 it had 6 bouts for WMMA in the UFC, 1 for W-FW (now a defunct division), 1 for W-BW, 2 for W-FLY and 2 for W-SW, in 2022 it had 4 title bouts, in 2023 it had 4 as well and in 2024 it had 4 but this year in 2025 it had only 3 bouts and no confirmed bouts yet which I fear this year could end and WMMA title bouts in the UFC only has 3 title bouts which will be very outrageous even more.

Meanwhile, if we compare Male divisions, there has been 10 bouts happened this year by far and 3 confirmed will happen, 2 title bouts for LW happened as well as 2 for MW, 2 for BW, 1 for LHW, 1 for FLY, 1 for WW and 1 for FW, title fights on November or December hasn't been booked yet (we will see how many title fights for November and December tho), because next month will have no title fights, which is very annoying and upsetting, Idk why Dana or the UFC won't book a title fight next month, which is bad for the business, UFC Noche has no title fights and no PPV events next month too but the next confirmed bouts will be 1 more for LHW (which will be 2 LHW bouts this year) and 1 more for BW (which will be 3 BW bouts this year) and 1 HW bout, November and December aren't known yet which title bouts in which divisions will be.

And if we go look at history of WMMA title fights recently in the last few years, we will find the title fights has been very inactive, like:

-In W-SW: Before February 2025, W-SW title was on the line in April 2024 which was TEN MONTHS before the title fight that happened in February 2025 then before April 2024, the fight before that was in August 2023 which was 8 months from April 2024, and before that one, the last time W-SW title was put on the line was in November 2022 which was 9 months, and before that one, las time W-SW title was put on the line was in May 2022 which was 6 months (and it's okay).

-In W-BW: Before June 2025, W-BW title was on the line in October 2024 which was 8 months, and before that, it was on the line in January 2024 which was 9 months, and before that, it was on the line in June 2023 (Nunes was still around, she decided to vacate her title) which was 6 months (and it's okay) but before that, it was on the line in July 2022 which was ELEVEN MONTHS.

-In W-FLY: Before May 2025, W-FLY title was on the line in September 2024 which was 8 months, and before that, it was on the line in September 2023 which is a WHOLE YEAR then it was on the line in March 2023 which is 6 months (and it's okay) but before that, last time the title was on the line was in June 2022 which is 9 months.

And If we go look at the number of title fights in the last few years, like in 2013, 2013 had 19 title bouts, 2015 had 20 title bouts, 2016 had 22 title bouts, 2017 had 20 title bouts, 2018 had 18 title bouts (which was surprising cause even tho it had 18 but 2018 was a really good year for the UFC), 2019 had 19 title bouts, 2020 had 19 title bouts, 2021 had 20 title bouts, 2022 had 19 title bouts, 2023 had 21 title bouts (which was surprising cause 2023 was just good but not really that amazing), 2024 had 19 bouts and in 2025, we've had 13 title bouts by far and 3 confirmed title bouts coming up which is total 16 which is very low title bouts since we have all the divisions possible, November and December are yet TBD.

I looked in the past few years before 2013, they were low due to not too many divisions were created in the UFC, for both WMMA and for even Men's MMA, 2014 had 16 title bouts which is very low for a year that had all the divisions (except W-FW and W-FLY), so from what we can see, 2023 and 2016 are the years that had the most title bouts in modern UFC, and also, one of the things that make a year lack title bouts that could've had more title bouts in it is that BS BMF title bouts and when the UFC sometimes make PPV events that it's main event a washed superstar like when Masvidal and Colby fought in March 2022 or when Conor fought in January 2020, January 2021 and July 2021, if it weren't for these fights, these last few years could've had more title fights.

See? that's really a big reason for why the UFC is not as exciting as it used to be in the past few years, we can see the number of title bouts is kinda decreasing in the upcoming years, 2025 didn't have enough title fights, let's hope it reaches 19 at least by the end of the year

Why the UFC lacks care to book more title bouts? and Why WMMA champions in the UFC are inactive? do people or the promotion really don't care about WMMA that much? that's terrible, wasting the fans' time who are waiting for title fights, not really WMMA just but title fights cause it's the fights that really matter and excites the fans, and the number of title fights is decreasing each year which is bad, and also it's bad because it's wasting the champions' primes and the contenders' primes too, do the blame should be put on the champions or the promotion?

Drops your answers, and plz be polite, no trolling, baiting or joking a lot, thanks and have a lovely day.

Generally speaking, WMMA is awful. The champions of the divisions, while decent, are not a draw. Superstars like Ronda don't come around too often. Much like the HW division, there aren't many challengers to the throne. WMMA is cooked without a figure like Ronda.

Woman MMA from a profit point of view is a scam, women MMA do not even represent 5% of the market, it's a male dominant sport even if there are more women on earth than men.

Superstars could sell a bit, but that's it, there are one thousand more men fighters than women fighters, what could have helped WMMA is the creation of women MMA teams in all countries by making MMA an olympic sport.

The talent pool is not deep and there are not even 5 weight classes.

There are very few compelling matchups on the women's side. We'll eventually get Harrison-Nunes and Shev-Zhang then what? But yes both Zhang and Shevchenko are very inactive. Zhang has only fought once a year the last 3 years, and Shev has only had 4 fights in the last 3 years (2 in 2023, 1 in 2024 and 1 in 2025. Harrison only won the title less than 3 months ago, so it's hard to criticize her...yet. But with the remaining PPV cards for the rest of the year pretty much already booked, it looks like there will be no more defenses in 2025.

Noone fucking cares. It's a joke. And I'd bet that the loud little handful of clowns talking about how boring Khamzat is are the same clowns who try to promote wmma as legitimate entertainment.

Fewer fighters, consequently fewer contenders and title fights. It's kind of the same thing that happens with the HW division.

Are you deliberately trying to jinx it or something?
Lol shhhhhh!

It's finally somewhere close to the ideal ratio, 1 or 2 per card, once or twice a month.
Unless we start tempting fate by asking shit like "Yo, where are all the wmma main events at? Am I right?"

Delete this thread, speak of it no further, and hope one of the moles hasn't already brought this to their attention.
Or we'll be up to our pointy elbows in head/arm throws and 29-28 split decisions on main cards all over again

The UFC clearly think the financial return on women's title fights doesn't justify the expense. Problem is you can't build stars if they rarely fight or you shutdown divisions with rematches.

Women's sports have more of a supply side problem than men's. So improving pay and career opportunities will improve WMMA.
The good thing is WMMA is more marketable than Women's boxing and WNBA.

In this scenario does it mean that the men get paid less?
There is only so much money the people in charge are willing to pay here.

The big-name fighters are mostly gone, so WMMA is probably extremely low priority right now. That and Sean Shelby has a nasty habit of never answering his phone or responding to texts when women fighters call.
So just have one of them randomly accuse him of "sexual misconduct" and he's gone. I don't see the problem here. <Fedor23>
